Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Business Planning Manager to support our Europe business, with a focus on driving performance, operational excellence, and strategic execution across the UK. Working closely with the Europe Coverage Chief of Staff and senior stakeholders—supporting the UK CEO—you will lead critical initiatives in business reviews, client portfolio management, sales enablement, frontline communications, and strategy delivery. This role offers exposure to cross-functional leadership and the opportunity to contribute to high-impact decisions across our Corporate and Institutional Banking franchise.

You will take ownership of UK business planning, governance coordination, and regulatory oversight, working in partnership with Finance, HR, CABM, Compliance, and COO teams. Your remit will include preparing risk forum submissions, managing financial performance metrics (e.g. revenue, RoRWA, RWA, costs), and aligning the UK business strategy with budget delivery.

You will also support the UK CEO on matters of governance, risk, and regulatory engagement, and represent the business at key committees and forums. A central aspect of this role involves stakeholder coordination, internal communications, and driving alignment across Coverage, Product, and Country teams through strategic initiatives such as corporate planning, townhalls, and business reviews.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Communication 
•    Coordinate communications to ensure alignment with country and business priorities.
•    Organise yearly or ad hoc strategy days, townhalls to ensure close communication and alignment between Coverage, products, and functional teams in Country.

Regulatory & Business Conduct
•    Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct. 
•    Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
•    Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Skills and Experience

We are looking for a seasoned professional with 8–10 years of experience, ideally in Coverage or Corporate Banking business roles, with a solid understanding of the Standard Chartered network and geographies.

You will bring strong execution capabilities, the ability to manage ambiguity, and experience working across multiple, time-sensitive projects.

A deep understanding of risk, governance, and regulatory frameworks is essential, alongside proven strategy planning, stakeholder management, and account planning experience. The role also demands excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to coordinate at senior levels including with the UK CEO and Business Heads, and a high level of resilience and initiative to drive business outcomes.

Qualifications

•    Good understanding of Corporate Banking and the SCB Network/Geographies
•    Leadership qualities and deep understanding of the financial services industry
•    Prior experience in Coverage or Business Roles preferred.
•    Knowledge of regulatory compliance, risk management, and audit processes.
•    Strong execution skills, ability to manage ambiguity, work on multiple projects and under tight timelines. 
•    Take Initiative and drive tangible business outcomes. 
•    Proven ability to drive client strategies for business growth and revenue enhancement
•    Ability to partner with senior leadership and manage strategic and operational initiatives.
•    Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis and financial reporting.
