Investing in your future

Our Client Coverage Apprenticeship is a two-year, paid programme for students who want to start a career in banking without going to university.

From day one, you’ll be part of a front-office Client Coverage team, learning how we support our clients, building long-term relationships and delivering solutions across markets, financing and investment products.

You’ll earn while you learn, gain real responsibility early on, and complete a fully funded, industry-recognised qualification alongside hands-on experience.

What is Client Coverage?

Client Coverage teams are responsible for managing and developing relationships with our corporate and institutional clients around the world.

They work closely with specialist product teams to deliver solutions across areas such as:

  • Trade and cash management
  • Financing and credit
  • Capital markets and investment products

Client Coverage sits within Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) and plays a key role in helping clients grow, manage risk and invest sustainably.

What you’ll be doing

During the programme, you’ll gain exposure to different areas of Client Coverage and supporting teams. You’ll:

  • Work alongside experienced bankers to support client relationships
  • Learn how a global bank operates across markets and regions
  • Help prepare client materials, research industry trends and analyse data
  • Attend insight sessions, briefings and learning events across the bank
  • Build strong communication and presentation skills through regular stakeholder interaction

You’ll rotate across teams to help you understand the role fully and decide where your strengths and interests lie.

How the programme works

  • Two-year rotational programme within Client Coverage
  • Four six-month rotations across different teams
  • On-the-job learning alongside structured training
  • Completion of the CISI Investment Operations Certificate as part of a Level 4 apprenticeship
  • Support from managers, mentors and peers throughout

High performing apprentices may be considered for a permanent role at the end of the programme.

What you’ll gain

  • Real front-office experience in Corporate and Investment Banking
  • A strong understanding of how we support our global clients
  • A recognised professional qualification, fully funded
  • Confidence, commercial awareness and transferable skills

Who we’re looking for

You don’t need previous finance experience. We’re looking for people who are:

  • Curious and motivated, with a desire to learn
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high expectation environment
  • Strong communicators who enjoy working with people
  • Logical thinkers, interested in understanding data and problem-solving
  • Reliable, resilient and proactive.

Eligibility

To apply, you must:

  • Be studying towards or have completed A Levels, BTEC or equivalent (Level 3)
  • Have a minimum of 5 GCSEs, including Maths and English
  • Have the permanent right to work in the UK
  • Not be currently enrolled in or have completed a university degree.

If you are currently studying at university or already hold a degree, please explore our graduate opportunities instead.
