Job Summary
Join our dynamic Metals & Mining M&A Advisory team, supporting transactions across Europe, Africa, and the Americas. This Director role reports directly to the Head of Metals & Mining M&A, West, and offers the opportunity to play a pivotal role in executing mergers and acquisitions, originating new business opportunities, and cultivating lasting client relationships. You will actively contribute to broader strategic transactions including Debt Capital Markets and Financing Solutions, leveraging your deep sector expertise and transaction execution skills. Collaboration with Global and Regional Industry Heads, Executive Directors, Relationship Managers, and product partners is key to driving sustainable revenue growth and delivering excellent client outcomes.
This role is ideal for a highly motivated professional with a proven record in complex transaction execution, strong client engagement capabilities, and an in-depth understanding of the metals and mining sector. Key Responsibilities
• Lead implementation of the Metals & Mining M&A client strategy, ensuring alignment with the Group Code of Conduct and the overall market positioning strategy.
• Collaborate effectively with regional and product teams to integrate M&A and financing business lines, supporting their business plan objectives.
• Deliver on key strategic milestones that gauge the success of the Metals & Mining M&A strategy.
• Originate and execute comprehensive M&A advisory mandates, guiding clients through valuation, deal structuring, strategic considerations, and negotiation processes.
• Drive business development efforts by leveraging existing client relationships and contributing actively to high-impact pitch preparation and new opportunity identification.
• Support a range of financing transactions including Debt Capital Markets, project financing, and acquisition financing, ensuring seamless execution.
• Strengthen and expand client relationships by ensuring excellent service delivery and identifying cross-border transaction opportunities through the bank’s extensive network.
• Manage multiple transaction teams concurrently, maintaining exceptional quality and timely delivery while fostering a collaborative and empowering environment for junior team members.
• Provide mentorship, training, and development opportunities for less experienced colleagues to build a culture of continuous learning and high performance.
• Partner with senior management to promote a high-performance culture focusing on pitching intensity, execution quality, client satisfaction, and effective risk management.
• Support financial performance tracking against regional targets, ensuring responsible resource allocation and adherence to governance standards.
• Participate in relevant governance committees to evaluate and ensure the suitability and compliance of M&A advisory advice.
Qualifications
• A degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accountancy or a closely related discipline is required.
• Significant demonstrable experience in Metals & Mining M&A, investment banking, or related capital markets roles.
• A strong track record of successfully executing both buy-side and sell-side transactions, including work with publicly listed companies.
• Experience in various financing structures such as Debt Capital Markets, leveraged buyouts, and acquisition financing.
• Advanced technical and quantitative expertise with the ability to critically analyse and guide financial assessments.
• Sector-specific market knowledge and proven client engagement to support strategic business development.
• A history of contributing to innovative idea generation and leading effective pitch strategies.
• Exceptional work ethic with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently and collaboratively.
• Skilled in project management, with the capacity to oversee complex transaction processes.
• Demonstrable ability to coach and mentor junior colleagues, fostering professional growth within the team.
• A first-class degree from a reputed university or equivalent professional standing is highly desirable.
