Key responsibilites:

 

Strategy

  • Provide independent Second Line of Defence (2LoD) oversight of the Group’s capital position, ensuring robustness of capital planning, distribution decisions, risk appetite calibration, and regulatory compliance, while delivering effective challenge to Treasury and first line stakeholders.
  • Provide independent 2LoD review and challenge of regulatory stress testing (e.g. ICAAP, BCST), ensuring robustness of methodologies, assumptions, and alignment with capital adequacy and risk appetite

 

Processes

  • Lead monitoring and challenge of key capital ratios, clearly articulating drivers, trends, and emerging risks to senior stakeholders.
  • Responsible for overview of key capital metrics, forecasts and for providing risk insights.
  • Assess capital stack across Group and MLEs, evaluating loss absorbency and financial flexibility.
  • Act as primary 2LoD interface with Treasury Capital & Issuance, providing structured challenge and tracking delivery.
  • Lead thematic reviews of emerging risks and capital implications.
  • Support Treasury control effectiveness assessments and remediation tracking.
  • Perform peer benchmarking and interpret external capital trends to inform Group positioning.

  • Lead independent 2LoD review of Group and Solo distribution proposals ensuring affordability, robustness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead 2LoD review and challenge of capital planning projections across Group and MLEs under the CP process. Identify downside risks and vulnerabilities, articulating implications for capital adequacy
  • Lead 2LoD end-to-end oversight of Pillar 2A (P2A) assessment and ICAAP capital framework.
  • Review and challenge methodologies, assumptions, and capital add-ons across risk types.
  • Challenge stress testing outcomes, including severe but plausible scenarios and capital impacts.
  • Assess management actions, including distributions and issuance strategies, for credibility and capital impact.
  • Lead 2LoD review of Capital Risk Appetite proposals, validating methodologies and calculations and ensuring they reflect stress outcomes

Qualifications

  • Degree from an accredited university and professional qualifications (MBA, CPA etc.)
  • Deep expertise in banking capital frameworks, icaap, stress testing, and regulatory capital requirements.
  • Strong understanding of capital metrics (cet1, leverage, double leverage, buffers).
  • Experience in treasury, capital planning, or risk oversight roles within a global bank.
  • Languages business proficiency in English (verbal & written)
