Job Description: 

Job Summary

Lead and develop the Asset Backed Syndicate function globally. This includes pricing, originating, executing new ABS bond/Sukuk transactions in Capital Markets, and delivering post-execution feedback to Issuers. Provide best in class execution for Capital Markets clients through accurately analysing the opportunities which markets present.

Strategy
•    Lead and develop the Asset Backed Syndicate function globally. This includes pricing, originating, executing new ABS bond/Sukuk transactions in Capital Markets, and delivering post-execution feedback to Issuers. Provide best in class execution for Capital Markets clients through accurately analysing the opportunities which markets present.

Business
•    Bond Syndicate is a critical function of Capital Markets, and Capital Markets is a critical part of Financial Markets given the RoRWA which the business generates and the cost to income ratio. The Capital Markets business contributes in Standard Chartered Group achieving the targeted Return on Equity to its shareholders.

Processes
•    Day to day pricing of requests sent by Capital Markets team across Europe, Americas, Middle East, Africa and Asia, across multiple currencies.
•    Assist with providing colleagues in other regions with colour on US, European, Asian and Middle East ABS investors
•    Manage live execution for transactions including pricing calls
•    Communicate with global sales team to derive investor appetite
•    Reconcile orderbooks and allocate bonds, managing any residual risk
•    Develop strong relationships with Issuers and Investors alike
•    Generate reverse enquiry driven new issuances
•    Coordinate with team members on the Financing Risk team on asset sell-down activities.

•    Not a people leader. However, lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values.  Set appropriate tone and expectations from their team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
•    Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of people and ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks.
•    Responsibility to review team structure/capacity plans.
•    Develop talent within the Syndicate and Portfolio Management.

Risk Management
•    Desk certified for Volcker for portfolios under Market Making, Risk Mitigating Hedges and Underwriting under the Group’s Operational Risk Framework.
•    Sign-off FM Supervisory Dashboard for Group Market Risk levels on the underwriting book, cancel & amends, independent price verifications and fair value adjustments.
•    Ensure a full understanding of the risk and control environment in area of responsibility

Governance
•    Ensure accurate communication of transaction parameters at all times to the market
•    Accurately reflecting the deal parameters to the press
•    Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
•    Responsible for delivering ‘effective governance’; capability to challenge fellow executives effectively; and willingness to work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner.
•    Accountable for escalation from Bond Syndicate and/or other Group governance committees or stakeholders in senior management, risk or control functions.

Regulatory & Business Conduct
•    Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
•    Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. •    Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

•    FCA prescribed responsibilities

•    Syndicate & Portfolio Management – coordinate across the team

•    CIB – assist in presenting ideas to Issuers
•    ABS Trading – ensure active dialogue
•    ALM / Treasury– assist in Private Placement issuances
•    Compliance – ensure that any distribution execution is aligned with the relevant compliance framework
