Job Description: 

Job Summary

Supports the Primes Services business globally from a COO perspective. Responsibilities include executing the business strategy, reinforcing exemplary control and governance, ensuring strategic functional alignment and engagement, and enabling business growth through productivity and discipline

Strategy
•    Work with the Prime Services team to define and implement the business strategic agenda to maximise shareholder value, identify and create areas of competitive advantage.  
•    Constructively challenge the and work with this group to highlight and resolve trade-offs between competing business investments and agendas.  
•    Work with the business head and TTO to develop and execute an infrastructure plan that supports the business strategy and is aligned to future regulatory requirements.
•    As a Markets Trading COO team member,
o    Play a key role in the annual strategy and annual budget
o    Be a vocal leader and help to drive the supervisory and conduct agenda

Business
•    Remove blockages and enable revenue capture and growth.
•    Set the overall support structure agenda for the business, and work with support functions and business heads to define priorities and goals for the different functions.
•    Monitor the business performance of the franchise and ensure early escalation of any incipient performance trends for further discussion.
•    Ensure the Bank is compliant with all new trading regulations.
•    Improve productivity and efficiency by driving an automation and standardisation agenda for the business that enables sustainable growth and scalability. 

Processes
•    With the support functions, deliver and maintain optimal global design standards for processes that are fit for business purpose and growth.

Key Responsibilities

People & Talent
•    Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from their team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
•    Employ, engage and retain high quality people, with succession planning for critical roles.
•    Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives.

Risk Management
•    Ensure that material risks which affect the business processes are monitored, managed and escalated in accordance with the Group’s Risk Management Framework
•    Support regulatory reform Programmed and ensure that all risks and issues are properly highlighted and addressed and that a high standard of governance and delivery is achieved.
•    Take the lead in identifying and driving initiatives designed to increase business operating efficiency and strengthen first line operational risk management.
•    Act to minimize operational loss and audit failures and take proactive measures to respond to matters arising and identify and manage forward looking risks. 
•    Embed the Group’s values and code of conduct and develop a robust culture to ensure adherence with the highest standards of ethics, and compliance with relevant policies, processes and regulations among employees.

Governance
•    Ensure adherence to group and local governance standards and escalate promptly through the appropriate channels.

Regulatory & Business Conduct
•    Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct. 
•    Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
•    Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
