We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated AI Research Scientist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science, with a passion for advancing the state-of-the-art in AI technologies. As an AI Research Scientist, you will be responsible for conducting cutting-edge research, developing innovative AI models, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate AI solutions into our products and services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy
• Conduct original research in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
• Develop and implement novel algorithms and models to solve complex problems.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning technologies.
Business
• Business Analysts, Business Partners, COO Business, ITO, CDO, internal staff, clients and 3rd parties.
Processes
• Analyze large datasets to extract meaningful insights and patterns.
• Design and develop machine learning models and algorithms.
• Perform experiments to validate the performance and accuracy of models.
Governance
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior researchers and team members.
• Lead and contribute to the development of AI research roadmaps and strategies.
• Identify and address technical challenges in AI projects.
Regulatory & Business Conduct
• Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
• Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
• Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
• Lead to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles
Key Stakeholders
• Work closely with software engineers, data scientists, and product managers to integrate AI solutions into products.
• Collaborate with academic and industry partners on joint research projects.
• Present research findings at conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
Other Responsibilities
• Work with senior management to develop and refine the bank's AI strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
• Identify and prioritize AI use cases that have the potential to deliver significant business value.
Develop business cases for AI projects, including cost-benefit analysis, risk assessment, and ROI estimation
Qualification
• Education Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
• Languages English Proficiency
Role Specific Technical Competencies
• Proven experience in conducting AI research and developing machine learning models.
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or Java.
• Proficiency with machine learning frameworks and libraries
• Experience with data analysis tools and techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to present complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
