Job Summary

To drive a team to provide financial expertise to the CPBB business, in line with country, regional and group strategy.  The role holder is expected to drive key outcomes in areas of strategy, cost management, controls & governance, stakeholder management and team leadership. Additional support and oversight for central performance management.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy
•    The role requires adequate awareness and understanding of the Group’s & Country’s business strategy and
•    contribute to the strategic priorities of the Finance and ensure the strategic priorities related to the areas under this role are delivered

Business
•    Awareness and understanding of the wider business, economic and market environment in which the Group operates in India including accounting framework and regulatory environment.  Advanced knowledge of Retail including Wealth and SME products is expected.

Processes
Below are the key responsibilities:
•    To partner with the WRB India Business Head and WRB MT to execute strategy and drive financial performance keeping in mind the strategic priorities and business direction
•    To provide regular updates to WRB MT at Group level and in India encompassing business momentum, strategy execution progress and industry developments 
•    Provide leadership to WRB Business Finance team in India and oversight to Business Finance colleagues in SA cluster markets 
•    An active member of the India Finance Management Team to contribute effectively to the development and execution of the Finance agenda for WRB Finance and India Finance
•    Ensure professional standards are established and maintained for all matters relating to finance business partnership, robust performance management, analysis and reporting framework for the business, strategy and governance
•    Budgeting & Reporting Cycle: provide an efficient budgeting, forecasting & reporting platform which delivers accurate business information in the shortest cycle time  
•    To continually assess and develop the skills and capabilities of the function to meet Business and Group needs

•    To be a proactive member of the Global WRB Finance community and drive WRB Finance priorities in India and cluster markets
•    To actively engage and maintain relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders
•    Provide the Business with options, recommendations and clear financial consequences based on robust analysis and transparent decision making framework
•    Performance Management: Continuously provide a balanced view of business performance against agreed external and internal benchmarks to drive optimal decisions and superior performance
•    Cost Management & Productivity: Ensures costs & investments are aligned to business strategy, deliver targeted returns and that a culture of continuous productivity improvement is embedded in business processes
•    Balance Sheet Management: Partner with Business, Treasury teams and ALCO in developing a deep understanding of the key drivers of the Balance Sheet and to maintain an optimal Balance Sheet structure which balances capital efficiency, liquidity, risk and funding costs
•    Governance, Compliance & Controls: Ensure group and regulatory governance standards are understood and underpinned by robust processes within the Finance function with appropriate self assessment and independent controls
•    Risk Management: Actively participate in the group’s Risk Management Framework and through its value generation roles, ensures that financial risk is identified, measured & mitigated.

People & Talent 
•    Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values.  Set appropriate tone and expectations from team and work in collaboration with stakeholders
•    Mentor, train and develop people and ensure that holders of all critical roles are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles 
•    Employ, engage and retain high quality people, with succession planning for critical roles
•    Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives

Risk Management
•    Ensuring compliance with Bank’s Policies and Standards and all the responsibilities of the role are discharged in accordance with Bank's Risk Management Framework (ERMF). 
•    Ensure compliance of regulatory norms and guidelines as relevant to the role

Governance 
•    Responsible for assessing the effectiveness, oversight and controls in the areas included in the key responsibilities and, if necessary, oversee changes in these areas. Have an awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role

Regulatory & Business Conduct 
•    Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct. 
•    Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
•    Lead the Team to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles: [Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Financial Markets; Financial Crime Compliance; The Right Environment.] * 
•    Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
