TITLE: Director, Credit Analyst, Natural Resources & Renewables
LOCATION: New York, NY
DUTIES: Responsible for credit initiation of new clients as well as periodic credit risk assessment of existing clients in the Natural Resources & Renewables portfolio in the U.S. Drafting of credit analysis through Business Credit Applications (BCAs) and Group Mandates (GMs) as directed by the Head, Credit Analysts, Corporates/Global Account Managers (GAMs)/Relationship Managers (RMs). Discuss overall exposure on the Client/Group, rationale for limits (including lending, trade, corporate finance and FX products), assess overall economic loss and determine business and risk approving authorities. Assess the dynamics and nature of the Client’s/Group's business and industry, including key risk aspects. Conduct peer analysis and assess the Client’s/Group's competitive positioning within its industry. Assess management strength, experience and track record and corporate governance. Articulate the Client’s/Group's strategy and an assessment of its clarity and associated execution risks. Assess funding strategy, financial policy, treasury activity (hedging, cash management) and liquidity. Prepare financial spreads and Internal scorecard to assign internal rating grade to the Client. Assess balance sheet strength, alongside cash flow and profitability vulnerability, via trend and ratio analysis. Assess other pertinent risk aspects and mitigating factors, including country risk, parental and/or governmental linkage/support, holding company risk, collateral evaluation, covenant structure and cushion analysis, relative ranking of indebtedness, structural and / or contractual subordination aspects. Remote work may be permitted within a commutable distance from the worksite, in accordance with Standard Chartered Bank policy.
REQTS: Must have a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field and ten (10) years of experience in the job offered or in a related position. Must have ten (10) years of experience with: Utilizing Credit Risk framework including, Business, Financial, Environmental, Sustainability and Fraud risk along with policies and procedures including, General Corporate Lending, Credit Grade, Leverage Lending and Parental Support to prepare credit proposal highlighting key risk and mitigant; Working with products related to trade finance including letter of credit, standby letter of credit, and bonds and guarantee; Working with products related to capital finance including short term loans, receivable finance, pledge-based financing and Balance Sheet lending including term loans and structured loans; Experience with funded and non-funded exposure underwriting along with substantiation of limits; Understanding facility agreement terms and conditions, and covenant and risk trigger monitoring to complete credit proposals aligned with the client requirements and business models; Experience with underwriting and risk monitoring for the oil and gas industry to assess the competitive positioning of a client; Performing debt modelling and running internal sensitivity analysis in Excel for Corporate and Financial clients.
SALARY: $185,000 - $195,000/year
HOURS: Full time; Mon – Fri (40 hours per week) EOE.
