Job Description: 

Key Responsibilities

Lead a regional team of specialist advisors providing first-line risk management support to Client Coverage (Financial Institutions “FI”/ Banks & Broker Dealers, “FI / BBD”), with accountability for strengthening governance, control frameworks, and risk discipline across the FI / BBD portfolio in the region.

Drive enhancement of non-financial risk management (conduct, regulatory, financial crime, operational, reputational), while embedding structured advisory capability to improve decision-making, portfolio quality, and lifecycle risk management.

Strategy
•    Support the Global Head of FI Client Risk Advisory and relevant regional/global leadership to deliver the target operating model for Client Risk Advisory, ensuring business strategy is in line with Risk Appetite and parameters. 
•    Provide expert risk, control and governance guidance and oversight to senior stakeholders leading the FI BBD segment and their teams, and support execution of relevant strategies. 
•    Bring strategic thought and vision on how FI / BBD landscapes are changing, where areas of international growth lie, and how this affects the portfolio. 
•    Drive FI / BBD-owned strategic initiatives and play a visible leadership role in strategic initiatives that cut across the segment. Develop the Advisory offering to FI / BBD clients and related Coverage Bankers, driving a more assertive first-line approach to owning risk, controls and governance. This includes improved discipline on record-keeping, heightened supervision through tailored risk-relevant dashboards (self-service and, where required, mandatory), and positioning advisory as a valued peer to Coverage Bankers.

Business
•    Create a culture of trusted advice to Coverage Bankers focused on achieving overall correspondent risk performance targets in line with effective risk management principles and the Bank’s risk, control and process frameworks. 
•    Support Coverage Bankers in developing their knowledge of Correspondent Banking, Fintech / NPM and related product offerings of the Bank. 
•    Strengthen governance oversight and the frontline control environment to enable a high-quality, well-governed and risk-appropriate client portfolio. 

Processes
•    Lead regular review of risk processes to identify challenges and opportunities for improvement. 
•    Collaborate with stakeholders to streamline FI / BBD risk processes and reduce duplication, while maintaining control effectiveness. 
•    Collaborate across the organisation including CFCR, CLDM, IMO, FI / BBD Risk and product partners to constructively challenge and improve processes to acquire and service FI / BBD clients effectively. 
•    Continuously improve design and execution of processes critical to success of FI / FI / BBD, with a focus on onboarding, offboarding and active supervision through the client lifecycle.    

People & Talent
•    Work closely with colleagues and stakeholders to enhance the quality and timeliness of deliverables. 
•    Provide oversight to ensure holders of critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified, with effective supervision to mitigate relevant risks. 
•    Support ongoing training and development, career development and succession planning within the team. 
•    Act as leader and mentor to team members across locations; role-model leadership by influence. 
•    Assess team structure and capacity plans and make recommendations on execution to the Global Head of FI Client Risk Advisory. 

Risk Management
•    Accountable for first-line ownership of non-financial risk outcomes across the Americas FI / BBD portfolio, including risk acceptance quality and governance decisions
•    Take the initiative regarding regulatory, reputational and ethical matters.. 
•    Coach Coverage Bankers on how to better manage risks within the business and ensure key risk issues are managed and remediated holistically, with adequate escalation to relevant regional / country heads and governance committees as appropriate. 
•    Work closely with CFCR, Banking, in particular Trade and Cash Management (including payments) product partners on emerging trends and high-risk transactions and activities to ensure client, product and CFCR processes and controls adapt to the rapid evolution of the segment. 
•    Participate with leadership and subject matter expertise in the development of MIS and dashboards to support better-informed decision making and proactive portfolio supervision. 
•    Contribute to development of training for Coverage Bankers to improve portfolio risk awareness. 
•    Advocate innovation (including establishing or extending tools) to address increasing complexity of risk management in the segment. 
•    Develop a culture to ensure team members comply with relevant policies, processes and regulations. 

Governance
•    In collaboration with the CBOC/CBOG Secretariats ensure good governance of the portfolio and ensure the team is conversant and compliant with the governance procedures. Ensure that the team is enabled to effectively provide advice within the governance framework. 
•    Preparation and presentation of high quality, risk relevant papers and reports to senior management and governance bodies across the bank on the relevant industry, client and portfolio issues. These should be constantly aiming to provide content to enable good decisions.
•    Oversee and support Group and Regional projects that have an impact on the FI / BBD Segment. 
•    Support internal audits and regulatory exams.

Qualifications

Education     
•    Bachelor’s degree required with advance education preferred
Training     
•    10+ years of work experience in Correspondent Banking, Payments, Fintech.
•    Familiarity with PRA and other country regulatory requirements 
•    Experience and knowledge of banking products and services in Financial Institutions and Transaction Banking
•    Relevant Project and Change Management, Compliance, Business Management, Strategy skills desirable
•    Experience of working with various stakeholders

Recruitment Assessments

Expected annual base pay range for the role is 200,000 USD to 250,000 USD. The final offer will be determined on an individualised basis using a number of variables, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience and education, internal relativity, and specific work location.
