JOB SUMMARY
The MD, Investors Coverage, Americas will be a strategic advisor and value-add partner to the Client, owning the front-to-back client relationship across all products, with direct accountability for the overall Client Group returns and risk management (AML, CDD and Credit). The MD is responsible for establishing and maintaining an end-to-end understanding of the Client Group structure, client needs, and to steer the client relationship strategy through Account Planning.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy
• Define and execute the client strategy for the Investors business to drive revenue growth, improve cost efficiency, and optimize returns (RoRWA, ER) in alignment with the firm’s Global Strategy.
• Lead the growth agenda for Hedge Funds and Real Money Funds in the Americas, as identified through the Account Planning process.
• Partner with global and regional Product teams to deliver integrated Client solutions that enhance wallet share, grow the addressable wallet, and deepen strategic relationships across priority accounts.
• Actively contribute towards the Global Strategy & develop Client-level strategic initiatives to support the product growth aspirations of the business, particularly in Structured Credit, Direct and Indirect Asset Financing, LBO financing.
• Develop & grow the relationship with a set of core Funds Clients within our existing Investors portfolio as well as target names we want to Bank, with a focus on those Funds whose AUM is tilted towards alternatives asset class.
• Lead client engagement with a focus on transparency while balancing business growth with risk oversight (AML, CDD), capital control, and resolution of key issues to ensure long-term relationship stability and value creation.
• Drive the Client strategy for digital assets across FSS and Markets, and in support of the firm’s sustainability agenda (transition financing / net zero, sustainable investing, and impact investing).
Business
• Actively originate new business and grow the franchise by engaging and collaborating with regions and teams outside of the Americas and capitalising on the firm’s competitive attributes (e.g. Network, Transaction Banking, Credit Markets etc).
• Engage senior management and c-suite of key clients to improve the quality of dialogue with clients, promoting a move away from ‘transactional’ reactive client coverage to consistent value-added partner/trusted advisor status. Anticipate clients’ needs and provide strategic advice, bringing in the relevant product and industry partners as appropriate.
• Maximise the profitable revenue to the Bank whilst maintaining focus on client outcomes by strengthening and deepening existing relationships both at the most senior level as well as at the operating level at clients in the designated portfolio.
• Professionally represent Standard Chartered within the region and internationally.
• Bring strategic thought to how the Funds, Alternatives and Institutional Asset Management landscape regionally/globally is changing and identify areas of opportunity for international growth.
• Ensure that industry and product knowledge is continually developed.
• Stay abreast and anticipate the developments of the industries in which our clients operate.
Processes
• Proactively manage the designated client portfolio to ensure:
• Close ties exist with key stakeholders e.g. Markets, Transaction Services, Banking, Country CEOs, Service Delivery, etc.
• Risks are appropriately identified and managed.
• The client portfolio is managed in compliance with the regulatory environment, keeping up to date with applicable changes and Group policies with ability to contribute to policy formulation.
• Key regulatory risks and concerns are raised into the governance framework and managed appropriately.
• All sales disciplines are adhered to in accordance with IC/CIB standards i.e. Account Planning, Call Reports, Deal Pipeline Management.
• Develop opportunities through attendance at key Industry events, as necessary.
People & Talent
• Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Demonstrate appropriate tone and expectations within the team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
• Support team structure/capacity plans.
Risk Management
• Take the initiative regarding regulatory, reputational and ethical matters, taking the initiative for providing proactive advice to clients as identified.
• Provide support to ensure key regulatory risks and concerns are raised into the governance forums.
• Experience in identifying, mitigating and managing market and credit risk exposures, spanning developed and emerging markets.
Governance
• Responsible for assessing the effectiveness of the Group’s arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight, and controls in the business and, if necessary, oversee changes in these areas
• Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
• Responsible for delivering ‘effective governance’; capability to challenge fellow executives effectively; and willingness to work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner.
Regulatory & Business Conduct

Qualifications:
Training, licenses, memberships, and certifications
• Financial Markets product knowledge and must have a background in Credit products.
• Strong knowledge of Fixed Income.
• Proven Investor Client relationships.
• Fund buying behaviour FM/TB.
• Proven understanding of the regulatory framework, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
• Bachelor’s degree (Banking or Finance preferred). MBA an advantage.
• Proven experience of building strong relationships with banking key clients, client origination.
• Proven market knowledge of the relevant industry.
• Risk & AML certified as stipulated by Bank policy.

Expected annual base pay range for the role is XXX USD to XXX USD. The final offer will be determined on an individualised basis using a number of variables, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience and education, internal relativity, and specific work location.
