Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Credit Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing credit analysis and full credit application packages across a broad range of risk types—including credit, fraud, sanctions, sustainability/climate, and transaction risk. The role requires active engagement with Coverage, GAM, and Risk teams, as well as ongoing monitoring of client portfolios. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to prudent risk management while supporting business growth and client strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare timely, insightful, and succinct credit analyses as guided by the Team Leader.
  • Evaluate industry dynamics and key risk factors relevant to the client.
  • Assess clients’ competitive positioning, management quality, and governance standards.
  • Analyse client strategy, execution risks, financial policy, funding strategy, liquidity, and treasury activities.
  • Develop base-case financial forecasts alongside balance sheet, cash flow, and profitability assessments using ratio analysis and/or stress testing.
  • Review parental/governmental support, country risk, and relative ranking of obligations.
  • Evaluate risks associated with proposed transactions.
  • Proactively monitor market, entity, industry developments, and covenant performance for assigned clients.
  • Conduct periodic portfolio reviews, industry reviews, and stress tests when required.
  • Complete financial spreading, scorecard determination, and propose preliminary credit grades.
  • Collaborate closely with Relationship Managers to support client strategy, materials preparation, and risk discussions.
  • Partner with Risk teams to present credit analysis and credit grade proposals, and to discuss key risk issues.
  • Participate in client visits to support due diligence and enhance credit understanding.
  • Act as a subject-matter resource on credit matters for Product, Coverage, and other stakeholders.
  • Act as part of the first line of defence by identifying, assessing, and monitoring risks; proposing controls and mitigants where necessary.
  • Ensure full adherence to internal policies, procedures, and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of credit risk oversight and awareness of reputational and regulatory implications.
  • Support Team Leaders with ad-hoc projects aimed at improving credit processes, portfolio insights, and team effectiveness.
  • Share knowledge, best practices, and key learnings with colleagues.
  • Engage with the bank’s broader strategy, focusing on client growth and enabling appropriate risk oversight.

Skills and Experience

  • University graduate in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and financial principles (experience or formal qualification).
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience (banking, credit rating agency, treasury, or accounting preferred).
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on credit risk assessment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English and French required.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across cultures and within dynamic environments.
  • Ability to engage credibly with senior stakeholders and clients.
  • Highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
