Job summary

We are currently looking for a motivated and driven senior Lawyer specializing in French banking and financial law to join our Standard Chartered Bank AG legal team in Paris. 
Standard Chartered Bank AG is a hub for Bank’s activities in Continental Europe. It is headquartered in Frankfurt, with branches in Paris, Stockholm and Warsaw. In this role you will be a part of the overall Standard Chartered Bank AG Legal team and will be based in our branch in Paris.
You will support the Head of Legal France and the wider Legal team in all legal work (including project work) relevant for Standard Chartered Bank AG, mainly focusing on providing legal advice to the businesses and functions of SCB AG within Financial Markets. 

Key responsibilities

•    provide legal support on transactions of the SCB AG business units as well as providing support on other regional initiatives and projects as required
•    provide relevant input in any product development and initiatives, legal and documentation issues and related processes in collaboration with the business units, the lawyers in the Frankfurt and Paris locations and the global Legal team based in the UK, Singapore and other locations
•    provide legal support on any legal matter regarding Standard Chartered Bank AG relevant for the business activities of the Standard Chartered Bank AG as well as regulatory matters
•    support SCB AG Legal on overseeing and managing legal risk relating to Financial Markets products offered by Standard Chartered Bank AG
•    support organisation and oversight of the use of master agreements and related documentation with existing and new clients, including collateralisation in light of regulatory requirements
•    support fulfilling regulatory requirements applicable to Standard Chartered Bank AG in the context of OTC derivatives trading and negotiating ISDA/ FBF/ /GMRA/GMSLA, collateral agreement
•    support the review of financing documentation (RCF Syndicated Facilities, Bridge Loan, Acquisition Financing, Project Export Finance) and Trade Finance (Guarantees)
•    assist with review of negotiations, prepare and execute sign-off by SCB AG Legal
•    support SCB AG’s netting and collateral enforceability review
•    support SCB AG Legal’s role in the SCB AG product governance process which includes: management of contract templates for SCB AG’s Financial Markets business (including master agreements and trade confirmations) and initial reviews of negotiation playbooks and other governance documents 
•    support Head of Legal, France in legal risk governance matters (including, but not limited to outsourcing management, policy management, performing controls and risk assessments, etc)
•    support the Head of Legal, SCB AG in audits

Skills and experience

•    University degree (Bac + 5) in French banking and financial law
•    Min 5+ years of professional experience gained in a financial institution and/or a law firm in France or abroad
•    Expert in general banking and financial law for a clientele of large companies
•    Familiarity with negotiating ISDA, GMRA , GMSLA, Collateral Agreement,  FM Structured products 
•    Familiarity with Syndicated Facilities, Project Finance, Export Finance, and Trade Finance guarantees
•    Commercial acumen and the ability to understand and evaluate business requirements in managing legal risk
•    Willingness to work in a team in a dynamic environment requiring strong personal involvement
•    Proactivity; ability to work autonomously and manage your workload efficiently
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
•    Proficiency in English and French, with the ability to effectively articulate complex legal concepts in both languages
•    Spanish law qualification in addition to the French law qualification would be considered a strong asset
