Job Summary

Standard Chartered Bank is seeking an experienced SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) Application Support Manager to join our production support organization. This role requires a minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in application support with deep expertise in SAP BTP platform services and production operations. As a senior technical specialist, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert-level technical leadership, managing complex production issues, driving operational excellence, and serving as the subject matter expert for SAP BTP platform support across the bank's technology landscape

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Management
•    Lead a team of 10-18 platform engineers, DevOps specialists, and support analysts
•    Provide technical leadership and mentorship on SAP-BTP platform technologies and operations
•    Conduct performance management, career development planning, and technical skills assessment
•    Manage resource allocation, capacity planning, and team workload distribution
•    Foster a culture of operational excellence, automation, and continuous improvement
•    Coordinate with global teams across multiple time zones and regions
SAP-BTP Platform Operations
•    Oversee 24/7 platform operations for SAP Business Technology Platform services
•    Manage platform availability, performance monitoring, and proactive issue resolution
•    Ensure adherence to SLA commitments for platform services and infrastructure
•    Coordinate major incident response, platform outages, and emergency procedures
•    Drive platform optimization initiatives for performance, cost, and scalability
•    Manage platform capacity planning and resource scaling strategies
SAP-BTP Infrastructure Management
•    Oversee SAP-BTP subaccount management, entitlements, and service provisioning
•    Manage platform security configurations, identity management, and access controls
•    Coordinate platform updates, patches, and maintenance activities
•    Ensure compliance with enterprise security policies and regulatory requirements
•    Manage integration with on-premise systems and hybrid cloud architectures
•    Oversee backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity procedures

Platform Services & Integration
•    Manage SAP-BTP core services including Cloud Foundry, Kyma runtime, and ABAP environment
•    Oversee SAP Integration Suite operations and connectivity services
•    Manage SAP HANA Cloud instances, databases, and data lake services
•    Coordinate SAP Analytics Cloud platform operations and user management
•    Ensure optimal configuration of SAP Datasphere and data integration services
•    Manage API Gateway, Event Mesh, and other platform integration services
Strategic Platform Initiatives
•    Drive platform modernization and cloud-native transformation initiatives
•    Lead automation projects to reduce manual operational overhead
•    Implement Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices and observability solutions
•    Evaluate and implement new SAP-BTP services and capabilities
•    Develop platform standards, best practices, and operational procedures
•    Collaborate with enterprise architecture teams on platform strategy.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
•    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
•    Master's degree or relevant advanced certifications preferred
Experience
•    Minimum 14 years of progressive experience in platform operations, cloud infrastructure, or related fields
•    Minimum 6 years of hands-on experience with SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP)
•    Minimum 8 years of people management experience leading technical operations teams
•    Minimum 5 years of experience in enterprise cloud platform management
•    Experience in financial services or highly regulated industries preferred

Technical Skills
SAP-BTP Platform Expertise
•    SAP-BTP Foundation: Deep knowledge of subaccount management, entitlements, and service provisioning
•    Runtime Environments: Expertise in Cloud Foundry, Kyma (Kubernetes), and ABAP environment
•    Integration Services: SAP Integration Suite, Cloud Integration, API Management, Event Mesh
•    Data Services: SAP HANA Cloud, SAP Datasphere, and data lake management
•    Security & Identity: SAP Identity Authentication Service, authorization management, and security configurations
Cloud & Infrastructure
•    Multi-cloud Platforms: Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, and hybrid cloud architectures
•    Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration platforms
•    Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates
•    Monitoring & Observability: Dynatrace, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, SAP Cloud ALM
•    DevOps & Automation: CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps
Platform Operations
•    ITIL Framework: Advanced knowledge of ITIL processes and service management
•    Incident Management: Major incident response, problem management, and root cause analysis
•    Capacity Management: Resource planning, performance optimization, and cost management
•    Security Management: Platform security, compliance, and vulnerability management
•    Disaster Recovery: Business continuity planning and disaster recovery procedures

Leadership & Soft Skills
•    Strong leadership and team management capabilities with proven track record
•    Excellent communication skills with ability to present to senior executives
•    Strategic thinking combined with hands-on operational expertise
•    Crisis management and decision-making under pressure
•    Change management and organizational transformation experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
•    SAP-BTP certification (SAP Certified Technology Associate - SAP BTP)
•    Additional SAP certifications (HANA, Integration, Security)
•    Cloud platform certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP)
•    ITIL Expert or ITIL Master certification
•    Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or similar container platform certifications
•    Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification

•    Team Performance: Ensure team productivity, skill development, and retention
•    Automation Goals: Increase automation coverage and reduce manual operational tasks

REPORTING STRUCTURE
•    Reports to: Head of Platform Engineering / Director of Technology Operations
•    Key Stakeholders: Application Development Teams, Business Units, Security Teams, Vendor Partners

WORKING ARRANGEMENTS
•    On-call Responsibilities: Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation for critical platform incidents
•    Working Hours: Standard business hours with flexibility for global platform support
•    Travel Requirements: Occasional travel for team meetings, training, or incident response
•    Hybrid Working: Flexible hybrid working model with office presence for critical operations
