Job Description:

Job Summary

•    The Commercial Go-to-Market Strategy Lead (GTMS) is a hands-on strategic partner to SC Ventures’ portfolio ventures. This role helps venture leaders diagnose their most important commercial challenges, establish practical growth plans, and execute high-impact initiatives that strengthen positioning, build demand, support commercialisation and improve commercial effectiveness.
•    The role is not intended to replace each venture’s internal commercial go-to-market ownership. It provides expert guidance, structured delivery support and access to SC Ventures and Standard Chartered capabilities, while helping ventures build sustainable in-house capacity. The role reports to an Operating Partner and works closely with venture CEOs, commercial leaders, venture marketing leads, SCV’s Portfolio Management, SC Ventures CABM (Corporate Affairs, Branding, and Marketing), ORION/Sales, and relevant Bank stakeholders.

Portfolio Commercial Go-to-Market Advisory and Prioritisation

•    Act as the primary adviser for an agreed portfolio of ventures, building trusted relationships with venture leads (aka CEOs) and leadership teams, commercial/sales leaders, and marketing teams.
•    Assess each venture’s maturity, commercial priorities, target customers, capabilities and constraints, then agree a focused support plan with clear outcomes, owners and milestones.
•    Triage incoming venture requests and prioritise support based on strategic importance, growth potential, urgency, readiness and expected impact.
•    Challenge briefs constructively, distinguish symptoms from root causes, and recommend the right mix of positioning, product marketing, demand generation, content, channels, partnerships, events or capability-building.
•    Maintain a portfolio-wide view of marketing needs, common capability gaps, reusable assets and opportunities for cross-venture collaboration.

Go-to-Market, Positioning, and Growth Support

•    Help ventures define or refine ideal customer profiles, buyer personas, value propositions, messaging architecture and differentiated market positioning.
•    Support practical go-to-market plans for venture launches, new products, new markets, strategic partnerships and commercial campaigns.
•    Advise on full-funnel marketing, including awareness, consideration, lead generation, nurture, sales enablement, conversion and retention.
•    Partner with venture and SC Ventures data specialists to translate performance data into decisions on audience, message, channel, spend and campaign optimisation.
•    Help ventures establish fit-for-purpose marketing measurement frameworks, dashboards and operating rhythms tied to commercial outcomes.

Campaigns, Content and Activation

•    Co-create briefs and oversee selected high-impact initiatives such as launch campaigns, thought-leadership programmes, client case studies, executive content, events, webinars and targeted account-based campaigns.
•    Ensure content and campaigns are tailored to the venture’s audience, proposition and commercial objective rather than relying on generic brand activity.
•    Identify opportunities to amplify venture stories through SC Ventures-owned channels and, where appropriate, relevant Standard Chartered channels, relationships and events.
•    Coordinate hand-offs between ventures, internal teams and external agencies, clarifying scope, deliverables, approvals, budget, timelines and success measures.
•    Build practical templates, playbooks and toolkits that improve quality and reduce repeated effort across the portfolio.

Commercial Go-to-Market Capability and Agency Effectiveness

•    Coach venture leaders and practitioners on commercial go-to-market strategy, planning, briefing, performance management and stakeholder communication.
•    Help ventures determine the right operating model across internal hires, fractional support, shared resources and specialist agencies.
•    Review agency scopes and proposals, support vendor selection where required, and help ventures evaluate delivery quality and value for money.
•    Create communities of practice and knowledge-sharing sessions for venture marketing teams, sharing relevant benchmarks, lessons and reusable approaches.
•    Promote disciplined experimentation and capture lessons from both successful and unsuccessful initiatives.

Governance, Risk and Financial Discipline

•    Ensure marketing activity follows applicable SC Ventures, Standard Chartered, venture and local requirements for brand, legal, compliance, risk, data, privacy, procurement and financial approvals.
•    Coordinate appropriate review of sensitive content, particularly material involving digital assets, artificial intelligence and jobs, regulated propositions, claims or financial information.
•    Support transparent budget planning and monitoring for portfolio marketing initiatives, with clear business rationale and expected outcomes.
•    Maintain accurate records of briefs, approvals, vendors, spend, campaign results and key decisions.
•    Escalate material delivery, reputational, conduct or compliance risks promptly and work collaboratively to resolve them.

•    Demonstrated strength in positioning, product marketing, demand generation, content strategy, campaign planning and performance measurement.
•    Ability to advise senior stakeholders while remaining willing and able to work hands-on through ambiguity and execution detail.
•    Commercial acumen and confidence linking marketing choices to pipeline, adoption, revenue, retention, fundraising or other venture outcomes.
•    Experience managing agencies, suppliers, budgets and cross-functional delivery.
