Job Summary

This key position will drive the growth and penetration of our Transaction Banking suite, with a dedicated focus on Cash and Trade solutions tailored specifically for the China Corridor client segment. You will collaborate intensively with coverage teams to deliver bespoke value propositions and design advanced, client-centred banking solutions aligned with the fast-evolving market needs and industry benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive long-term and tactical strategies tailored to the distinct needs of key corporate clients within the China Corridor, ensuring consistency with Standard Chartered’s broader organisational objectives.
  • Map and analyse clients’ operational footprints and procurement processes within the corridor to identify opportunities for enhanced banking services integration.
  • Partner closely with coverage and product teams to embed client-centric approaches within wider account management frameworks, ensuring seamless and coherent client engagement.
  • Establish and manage a robust global calling programme alongside detailed stakeholder engagement plans to optimise communication with senior decision-makers and key influencers.
  • Champion digital transformation projects aimed at enhancing client retention, wallet share, and competitive advantage, leveraging cutting-edge technology solutions.
  • Collaborate with trade distribution and product experts to innovate transactional banking offerings that directly address client-specific challenges and operational needs.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities by developing bespoke offerings, delivering persuasive business cases, and obtaining client mandates while adhering to stringent compliance and risk frameworks.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including service delivery and implementation, to ensure excellent client service standards and promote sustained business growth.
  • Contribute strategically to country-level revenue objectives by aligning client engagement and solution delivery with overarching sales targets for Cash and Trade products.
  • Maintain comprehensive client maps and account plans, actively nurturing relationships with decision-makers in cash management and trade finance across departments such as procurement and structured finance.

  • Exceptional aptitude for anticipating and understanding client business challenges, enabling the design of innovative, client-first solutions that uncover new pathways to business growth and deepen existing relationships.
  • Proven expertise in building and nurturing expansive networks within client organisations, skillfully navigating corporate hierarchies to influence senior decision-makers and secure critical transactional banking mandates.
  • Advanced commercial insight paired with the ability to deliver strategic, actionable advice that drives clients’ operational optimisations and financial efficiencies within complex market environments.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Transaction Banking products and services, particularly in Trade Finance and Cash Management, with a track record of tailoring offerings to meet the specific needs of multinational clients.
  • Superior client and relationship management capabilities, emphasising trust-building and long-term partnership development founded on mutual success and transparent communication.
  • Strong sales leadership qualities, including an ability to spearhead sophisticated, multi-stakeholder negotiations and efficiently manage extended sales cycles under competitive and regulatory pressures.
  • Capacity to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams, fostering a culture of innovation and shared achievement in pursuit of organisational and client goals.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Business Administration or a related field is essential to establish the foundational knowledge required for this role.
  • An MBA or equivalent advanced qualification is highly desirable, reflecting strategic leadership capability and comprehensive business understanding critical for influencing senior stakeholders and shaping impactful strategies.
  • Fluency in both Mandarin and English is required to ensure clear communication and effective relationship building across internal teams and clients within the China Corridor.
  • Professional certifications in Transaction Banking disciplines such as Cash Management, Trade Finance, or recognized sales methodologies are advantageous and demonstrate dedication to ongoing professional excellence.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development is encouraged, ensuring adaptability to evolving market dynamics, regulatory changes, and innovations in banking products and services.
