What’s the opportunity?


The Process Excellence team, part of Group Transformation Office, requires a Process Universe Lead, to partner across the organisation (CIB, WRB, Functions and other support areas), supporting the development and the maintenance of a consistent and robust process universe for the Bank, interaction with senior management and Global Process Owners, Product Owners and Domain Owners to identify opportunities / challenges and drive transformational activities to simplify, digitise, standardise and automate key processes. Underpinned by our ambition and mission to standardise, simplify, and digitise the bank, the Process Excellence (PE) team plays an essential role in providing PE foundational capabilities across the enterprise, to identify challenges and opportunities, raise our transformation ambition and support relevant delivery activities relating to process optimisation (waste elimination, process simplification, digitisation and automation).

What will you do?


The role holder will partner with key CIB, WRB and Function stakeholders to ensure processes are documented as per SCB standards. The individual will build relationship and influence stakeholders, global process owners, product owners and domain owners to drive transparency, accountability and drive a culture of continuous improvements. In partnership with other relevant stakeholder groups, this role will ensure process universe is fit for purpose and allows key stakeholders to identify opportunities, make investment decisions to further optimise SCB core processes.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy/ Business


•    Work with Global Process Owners (GPO), Product Owners (PO), Domain Owners (DO) and other key stakeholders to develop and maintain a consistent and robust process universe for the Bank
•    Engage GPOs, POs and DOs to educate them on roles, responsibilities and ensure they deliver what is expected of them – ensuring SCB has the right people with the right skill set and competencies to drive transformation at scale and fulfil their obligations
•    Build relationships, trust and credibility across senior community and GPOs, POs and DOs
•    Ensure the process universe is well maintained, linked to other relevant taxonomies (e.g. M7, service catalogue) and other systems to gather key relevant data points to make SCB process universe valuable and insightful
•    Drive team members toward delivering on their commitments
•    Create a feeling of cohesiveness and positive working environment with stakeholders and team members
•    Demonstrate good technical PE capabilities and business understanding to influence effectively
•    Lead the deployment and adoption of process universe capabilities to support senior management, COO community and other stakeholders
•    Define data and source systems required to link processes with data points that will allow to define level of maturity and identify areas of improvements / opportunities through various lenses (cots/FTE profile, risk & control, effectiveness, client and colleague experience)
•    Drive a culture of continuous improvements across Verticals (CIB, WRB and Functions) and Transversals (pan-bank transformation / internal process improvements)
•    Demonstrate ability to influence, drive result and ‘get things done’
•    Define data and analytics required to make SCB process universe useful and insightful and manages the common tool for the Bank, articulating how process flows should be captured and documented
•    Conduct quality assurance to make sure processes are well documented and in line with guidance and agreed principles

•    Lead and support a change in mindset, building a culture of continuous improvements within PE and SCB teams, agility, and accountability – supported by key metrics to measure delivery of desired outcomes and benefits (both financial and non-financial), ensuring everyone in the Bank are drivers and owners of outcomes 
•    Set effective metrics and standards, transparently communicating them to stakeholders - providing feedback and rewarding employees accordingly. Set the appropriate tone and expectations for the wider team 
•    Employ, engage and retain high quality people, with succession planning for critical roles
•    Ensure the team structure/capacity is reviewed to enable delivery of client outcomes
•    Ensure the provision of on-going training & development, ensures that direct reports are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles and that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risk
•    Monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives
•    Create a motivational and challenging environment for staff which is conducive to creativity and performance with process excellence, transformation mindset and delivery centricity in mind
•    Champion and act as a role model of the Group’s values and culture. Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Sets appropriate tone and expectations for their team and work in collaboration with relevant partners

Risk Management
•    Identify and resolve key risks and issues early in their existence as they related to process universe activities
•    Produce and manage documented, specific resolution action plans, actively seeking to close open items by working with risk/issue owners 

 

Processes/ Governance
•    Define initiative desired outcomes, benefits and measures of success defined in partnership with CIB stakeholders and SMEs, adhering to high-quality delivery standards
•    Build and maintains initiative plans and schedules showing and accounting for internal and external dependencies
•    Proactively identify and successfully manage any schedule issues and interdependencies with other projects with no unplanned delays to the project
•    Ensure resource requirements/forecasts are built into project schedule
•    Update and review Lessons Learnt, both prior to and during each project and ensures that no previous mistakes are repeated

 

Project Governance, Process and Standards 
•    Ensure SCB process universe adheres to guidance and best practices and increasing visibility of analytics, insights
•    Monitor process universe activities, prioritises the work and tracks progress, deliverables and outcomes across the team and stakeholder groups
•    Partner with Global Process Owners, Product Owners and Domain Owners, raising awareness and capabilities to drive process excellence mindset and culture of continuous improvements

Communication/ Reporting 
•    Analyse and produce management information on regular cycles as required
•    Communicate the status (including risks and issues) to stakeholders, PE team and other relevant stakeholders 
•    Provide information that facilitates informed and timely decision making

 

Financial Management 
•    Manage project budgets and resource allocation, controls spending against the planned cost, analyses any variance and takes necessary corrective action to stay on Green status for Cost, provides timely forecasts and reporting as needed

Our Ideal Candidate

•    10+ years in the project / programme / portfolio management space, supporting or delivering mid-large size, complex initiatives
•    Knowledge of the Bank in terms of key processes, stakeholder groups and other taxonomies (e.g. M7, service catalogue)
•    Knowledge of process taxonomies, ORX, and process management tooling (ARIS tool to host the Bank’s process universe, host data points, generate insights and meaningful MI for senior management)
•    Strategic thinking, ability to identify opportunities and translate this into roadmap and actionable plan
•    Strong influencing and communication skills – oral, written and presentation. Proven success in communicating technical information in a simple way.
•    A can-do attitude committed to doing what it takes to deliver. Diligent and detail orientated
•    A growth mindset, with the appetite, ambition and ability to experiment and learn quickly
•    Excellent stakeholder management, presentation and communication skills and establishes effective working relationships from senior management to individual teams
