Job Summary

We are inviting applications for the role of Quantitative Strategist to join our Credit Trading Quant team. This role operates within the front office, delivering analytical and technological solutions that directly impact Credit Trading activities. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and delivery of analytics and e-trading capabilities for Credit Flow.

As part of the team, you will help shape and execute the analytics and e-trading roadmap, working closely with desk heads to ensure alignment with business priorities. The role requires the ability to apply rigorous scientific methods to identify trading patterns within complex and rapidly evolving datasets.

The solutions developed will be production-grade and are designed to enhance key trading metrics such as response rates, hit-rates, market share, PnL, revenue and RoRWA. Beyond the e-trading platform, the role also involves providing analytics and tooling that benefit the wider Credit Trading business, supporting decision-making, operational efficiency, and process integrity through dashboards, web applications, scheduled jobs, APIs and automated workflows.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Initiate and develop analytics and tooling supporting Credit Trading across the business, contributing directly to improved trading performance and efficiency.
  • Partner closely with front office traders to understand requirements and translate them into flexible, production-ready analytical solutions with rapid turnaround.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of the e-Trading platform, improving key trading metrics such as response rates, hit-rates, market share, PnL and RoRWA.
  • Support business growth by delivering and scaling platform components to line traders across Credit Flow.
  • Contribute across core components of the e-Trading platform, including fair value engines, portfolio and risk management, client segmentation and RFQ workflows.
  • Apply appropriate analytical techniques, ranging from statistical methods to modern machine learning where relevant.
  • Take ownership of projects from inception through to production deployment, coordinating with stakeholders including Trading, KDB, QA, DevOps, PSS and second line.
  • Maintain best practices in code quality, testing, environment management, and cross-team platform integration.

Skills and Experience

Candidates are expected to demonstrate:

  • Strong programming capability in Python, with solid Java experience or clear ability to develop production-grade Java applications.
  • Experience with functional programming paradigms, preferably Haskell or another functional language.
  • Strong grounding in statistics, probability and quantitative methods, with the ability to apply these to large, complex datasets.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver robust analytical solutions in a production environment.

Candidates should also demonstrate:

  • Good understanding of financial markets, ideally credit or fixed income, including familiarity with pricing, risk and hedging concepts.
  • Experience or exposure to electronic trading environments, including RFQ workflows and client interaction models.
  • Strong system design and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Ability to work effectively with front office stakeholders, maintaining a strong focus on delivery, testing, governance and controls.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in banking, trading, financial markets or a similarly data-intensive technology environment is preferred.
  • Ability to combine quantitative analysis with software engineering to deliver practical, production-ready solutions.
  • Evidence of ownership in delivering analytical or technology-driven projects from design through implementation.
