Job Summary

The role is to the advisor/value added partner to the Client, accountable for the overall client revenues, profitability and risk acceptance (AML, CDD and Credit).  The RAM is responsible for establishing and maintaining an end to end understanding of the client structure, client needs and steering the client relationship through Account Planning. The RAM shall work closely with the GS Head and will be responsible to embrace our corridor engagement on country perspective and hold accountabilities to drive regional revenues.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy
•    Responsible for delivery of agreed business performance targets (Revenue, RoRWA, RWA, costs, etc.) for the designated portfolio.
•    Responsible for developing and managing the implementation of GS China strategy for the designated portfolio, including a global client value proposition, as a framework within which the client segment and product groups operate and ensuring the CIB marketing strategy supports this.


Business
•    Actively involve in new business and grow the franchise by capitalising on bank competitive attributes (eg Network, Transaction Banking, etc), whilst selectively developing new relationships where required.
•    Anticipate clients’ needs and provide advice, bringing in the relevant product and industry partners as appropriate.
•    Maximise the profitable revenue to the Bank whilst maintaining focus on client outcomes, strengthening and deepening existing relationships.
•    Ensure that industry and product knowledge is continually developed.
•    Stay abreast and anticipate the developments of the Industries in which our clients operate.

Processes
•    Proactively manage the designated client portfolio to ensure:

•    Close ties exist with key stakeholders, e.g. Financial Markets, Transaction Banking, Corporate Finance, Risk, etc.
•    Risks are appropriately identified and managed.
•    The client portfolio is managed in compliance with the regulatory environment, keeping up to date with applicable changes and Group policies with ability to contribute to policy formulation
•    Key regulatory risks and concerns are raised into the governance framework throughout the IC team
•    All sales disciplines are adhered in accordance with IC/CIB standards ie Account Planning, Call Reports, Deal Pipeline Management

•    Develop opportunities through attendance at key Industry events as necessary.

Risk Management
•    Working jointly with GS China leadership team, responsible for the deployment of the risk decision framework within agreed risk tolerance and appetite, ensuring compliance with regulations, escalating material risk in accordance with the Group’s risk management framework, and building a culture of good conduct 


Governance
•    Responsible for assessing the effectiveness of the Group’s arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight and controls in the business and, if necessary, oversee changes in these areas
•    Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
•    Responsible for delivering ‘effective governance’; capability to challenge fellow executives effectively; and willingness to work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner. 

 

Regulatory & Business Conduct
•    Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct. 
•    Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
•    Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Key stakeholders
Internal:   
•    Engage with product partners within the region and globally to ensure breadth and depth of client coverage and deepening.
•    Consult with senior stakeholders in Risk and Legal & Compliance to ensure that the portfolio remains credit worthy and within the policies of the bank.

External:
•    Point of contact with clients, acting as a trusted advisor to the stakeholders
•    Peers in the International Corporate sector

Other Responsibilities
•    Embed Here for good and Group’s brand and values in [China / GS / team]; Perform other responsibilities assigned under Group, Country, Business or Functional policies and procedures; Multiple functions (double hats); 
•    Understand, acknowledge and comply with the requirements on individual accountabilities and responsibilities of the job set out in applicable local laws and regulations as well as SCB internal policies 
•    Effectively ensure and intensify internal controls by keeping abreast with developments of applicable local laws and regulations on accountabilities 
•    Perform job duties with diligence, contribute to efforts as an individual or as a team member so as to avoid any actual or potential legal sanctions, regulatory penalties, material financial loss, or adverse reputational impact on the Bank 
•    Be responsible for failure to follow relevant rules and processes, failure to properly perform the responsibilities, and implement corrections 
•    Cooperate with any investigations or reviews on regulatory failure such as accountability review 
•    Properly perform the duties on management and ensure the effectiveness of internal 
•    Be responsible for regulatory failure or risks arising from or in connection of the event over which the employee has the duties of management and/or 
•    Be responsible for significant losses due to failure of effectiveness of internal control

Skills and Experience

•    Credit knowledge 
•    Compliance, Risk and Governance Management

Qualifications

•    Awareness of the market landscape (China)
•    Previous experience in managing C Suite and regional treasurers 
•    Deep understanding of client’s business model and identify business opportunities.
•    Thorough understanding of Risk (Credit, Operational and Fraud Risk) incl passing all the internal required tests/ eLearnings 
•    Product knowledge and previous experience with complex transactions
•    Softer skills of managing clients across diverse cultures
•    Understand and good adapt of garnering cultural sensitivities 
•    Deliver strategic workstream
