JOB SUMMARY

Design and execute robust business risk control framework. Monitor control effectiveness and compliance with both internal policies and external regulations and ensure all time readiness for audits and inspections. Timely identify, assess, manage and mitigate risks related to Affluent. Collaborate with BRM to continuously optimize assurance & checking mechanism. Early detection and rectification of issues and ensure MCA (Management Control Approach) well established. Build strong culture and conduct mindset within Affluent.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy

•    Support to design and execute robust business risk control framework in the region. Monitor control effectiveness and compliance with both internal policies and external regulations and ensure all time readiness for audits and inspections. 
•    Timely identify, assess, manage and mitigate risks related to Affluent in the region. Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for respective businesses and processes, identifying control gaps and vulnerabilities. 
•    Learn, understand and strictly adhere to compliance to local regulations requirements, bank policies and procedures in day-to-day responsibilities.

Business

•    Work with Head Office and Regional teams to design, review and execute branch checking quality assurance program, to ensure quality of branch maker/checker setup and branch service check. 
•    Review issues and exception findings of Affluent branches, identify common issues and root causes, and provide recommendations for process enhancement, frontline awareness trainings, or other necessary management measures. 
•    Detect high risk areas / emerging risks on the ground and collaborate with HO/Regional teams to mitigate risks. 
•    Support Affluent teams during regulatory examinations and internal audits, including preparation, coordination, and response management. 
•    Lead, enforce and keep track timely completion of all corrective actions from all audits & inspections. Validate the remediation works to ensure the actions and control are effective. 
•    Early detection and rectification of issues and ensure MCA (Management Control Approach) well established.

Processes

•    Apply structured frameworks and methodologies for design, execution and outcome review. 
•    Participate in process & control related projects / initiatives as SME. Support to drive initiatives to improve control effectiveness through optimization, simplification and automation. 
•    Conduct thematic review and deep-dive analyses on high-risk areas, transactions, and processes, or as per other business requirements.

Risk Management

•    Understand, acknowledge and comply with the requirements on individual accountabilities and responsibilities of the job set out in applicable local laws and regulations as well as SCB internal policies
•    Effectively ensure and intensify internal controls by keeping abreast with developments of applicable local laws and regulations on accountabilities 
•    Perform job duties with diligence, contribute to efforts as an individual or as a team member so as to avoid any actual or potential legal sanctions, regulatory penalties, material financial loss, or adverse reputational impact on the Bank 
•    Be responsible for failure to follow relevant rules and processes, failure to properly perform the responsibilities, and implement corrections 
•    Cooperate with any investigations or reviews on regulatory failure such as accountability review 

Governance

•    Join related governance meetings to report and discuss Affluent related risk and control items.
•    Serve as the primary advisor to Affluent in terms of control & checking requirements, providing timely and practical guidance on regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry best practices.

•    Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. •    Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Key Stakeholders

•    Develop and manage stakeholder engagement strategies to ensure smooth implementation of new processes and systems.

Qualifications

•    Education     Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Finance, or a related field 
•    Languages     Proficiency in English and Chinese especially at writing skills
