Job Summary

The role holder will be responsible for supporting the growth of the fintech business via dynamic client coverage, strategic engagement across global teams and deep risk engagement. This individual will work closely with the New York team, as well as the global Fintech team, and the Digital Assets team to drive strategic priorities for CIB within the segment. This role will include all aspects of client development, new business generation, and feeding into the broader strategy for the global fintech portfolio, and cross-selling Standard Chartered’s solutions and products.

 

The clients this role is responsible for are global and require coverage by an experienced professional from a leading Paytech firm or banker with deep industry and product knowledge and a keen understanding of the risk environment. The banker will work in close coordination with their peers and senior management across the US and SCB’s other geographies to support the execution of the global strategy, support key clients and deliver the bank’s products and services across the footprint. This role reports into the Head of Fintech West which covers the Americas, Europe, Middle East, and Africa with a team of fintech coverage bankers based in multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy

  • Support the Head of Fintech West with the overall client strategy for Americas Fintech clients and prospects, including maintaining a deep understanding of the clients’ needs and actively engaging senior executives within clients to build relationships overtime. 

 

Business

  • Collaborate with senior bankers across geographies and the wider network to drive local conversations for inbound business.
  • Function as a subject matter expert and provide sector content and insights that enhances strategic dialogues with clients, some highly relevant themes are Correspondent Banking, Markets, GCM, Sustainable Finance and liquidity.
  • Build and share understanding of digital assets and developing close relationships with product constituents in the asset class is crucial.

 

Processes

  • Distilling complex information into clearly understood risk and business perspectives. 
  • Presenting complex sets of data across digital assets, crypto, payment services, capital markets to both business and risk constituents.

People & Talent

  • Set an example across the business not only with respect to the Group Valued behaviours but also in terms of Digital Asset knowledge and engagement to reinforce a culture of excellence in Digital Assets.
  • Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values.  Set appropriate tone and expectations, work in collaboration with risk and control partners.

 

Risk Management

  • Maintain strong understanding of credit risk, risk mitigation, and inherent risks around the correspondent banking business.
  • Develop understanding of newer financial products and a willingness to spend time understanding and analysing details is critical.
  • Develop appropriate reporting and oversight for Financial Markets and GCM product interoperability with the Fintech client space to build a diversified business across this client typology.

Qualifications

•    Degreee educated in finance, mathematical, or business related field
•    15+ years of relevant experience as a Fintech banker or working for a large Paytech company
•    Demonstrated ability to create dynamic ideas, with an appetite to mentor and upskill the team on Fintechs, digital assets, and the changing payments environment.
•    Strong understanding of credit risk, risk mitigation, and inherent risks around the correspondent banking business.

Expected annual base pay range for the role is 255,000 USD to 330,000 USD. The final offer will be determined on an individualised basis using a number of variables, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience and education, internal relativity, and specific work location. At Standard Chartered Bank, Base pay is only part of the total compensation package.
