Job Summary

Credit Analysis & Portfolio monitoring
This position is responsible to provide support the Credit Analyst team in the U.S. with credit initiation of new clients as well as periodic credit risk assessment of existing clients in the Credit and Portfolio Analytics team in the US. This would include assisting U.S. credit portfolio analysts with timely drafting of credit analysis through Business Credit Applications (BCAs) and Group Mandates as directed by the Credit portfolio analyst team in the U.S., led by the team lead Credit portfolio analysts, Americas. Credit Portfolio Analysts in Brazil are required to propose all deliverables to the U.S. Credit Portfolio Analysts who then lead the approval process with GAM and Risk. BCA analysis should be independent and in line with bank approved credit policies and processes and include the following:
•    Discuss overall exposure on the Client/Group, rationale for limits (including lending, trade, corporate finance and FX products), assess overall economic loss and determine business and risk approving authorities.
•    Assess the dynamics and nature of the Client’s/Group's business and industry, including key risk aspects.
•    Conduct peer analysis and assess the Client’s/Group's competitive positioning within its industry.
•    Assess management strength, experience and track record and corporate governance.
•    Articulate the Client’s/Group's strategy and an assessment of its clarity and associated execution risks.
•    Assess funding strategy, financial policy, treasury activity (hedging, cash management) and liquidity.
•    Prepare financial spreads and Internal scorecard to assign internal rating grade to the Client.
•    Assess balance sheet strength, alongside cash flow and profitability vulnerability, via trend and ratio analysis.

Key Responsibilities

•    Due diligence and preparation of credit applications for new subscription, GP, Hybrid and NAV transactions. 

•    Evaluate risks associated with proposed transactions, if required and ensure that all credit propositions are both coherent and meet requirements.
•    Assessment of Borrowing Base and LP Ratings of proposed portfolios
•    Completion of credit applications for new transactions and playing an active role in Risk discussions - financial analysis/spreads and scorecards in alignment with Credit Policy.
•    Complete credit applications related to clients’ requests for refinancing, extensions, joinders, and other amendments to the credit agreement
•    Securing legal approvals on in preparation for deal closing
•    Completion of Group Mandates for relevant Fund Finance clients
•    On-going monitoring of credit and financing risk of completed transactions
•    Ongoing Borrowing Base Reviews, monitoring of uncalled capital commitment, and regular refresh of LP ratings, including management and maintenance of related databases
•    Monitor Risk Triggers, Covenants and other credit conditions and ad hoc credit reports appropriately - preparing reports, escalation, and take actions, as per policy/procedure.
•    Monitor, in conjunction with Funds Risk, internal triggers and track the evolution of client performance and risk profiles over time.
•    Propose and assist with negotiation of credit terms for ISDA/CSA agreements through preparation of Credit Term Sheets (CTS).
•    Monitor ISDA NAV triggers
•    Contribute to the excess report process, including, but not limited to proposing limit increases or reducing exposures and promptly addressing queries.
•    Partnering with Risk through clear presentation of credit analysis and proposed credit grading, as well as through proactive and considered discussion of key risk aspects.
•    Acting as a broader point of expertise in respect of credit aspects with Product and others across SCB.
•    Train and support junior staff as relevant.
•    Active involvement and timely responses to ad hoc projects and reporting requirements, including portfolio reviews, stress tests, RWA monitoring, and limits monitoring as relevant.
•    Monitor LGD benefits remains in line with the benefits expected during deal origination
•    Take the lead in Early Alert identification, monitoring, updating, and discussions
•    Ability to work closely with Stressed Asset Group and the respective Global Banking product to ensure that stage 3 ECLs are reasonable and arrived logically with realistic assumptions
•    Quarterly portfolio reporting
•    Ensure that credit files are complete and maintained to an auditable standard

Skills and Experience

•    Ability to undertake credit analysis and evaluation and understanding of risks associated with Global Credit Market deals
•    Financial analysis of a complex customer base using credit skills; ratio analysis; balance sheet and cashflow analysis;

•    Well organized, able to multi-task and balance competing demands.

Educational Qualifications
•    Graduates / Graduate caliber.
•    Sound knowledge of accounting and financial principles gained by experience or qualification.
•    MBA or CFA qualifications advantageous, but not required.
