Job Summary
We’re looking for a seasoned Senior Credit Manager to join our Specialised Finance Risk team within the Corporate & Investment Bank. In this high-impact 2nd Line of Defence role, you’ll oversee complex securitisation and asset-backed finance credit risk across global markets, shape deal structuring, and guide strategic underwriting decisions.

The role holder will be responsible for:
• Managing credit risk within the second line of defence (“2LoD”) within the Specialised Finance (“SF”) Risk for Corporate and Investment Bank (“CIB”).
• This opportunity will suit a Senior Credit Officer / Executive Director equivalent profile with the relevant background and +10 years proven expertise in asset-backed financing / securitisation.
• Experience in warehouse, asset-based finance and traded asset backed securities across geographies and asset type (ABS, CLO, RMBS, CMBS, ABL, ABF).
• The role will require:
• Experience gained from an investment bank or a specialised / structured finance group of a major international organisation and a relevant degree from a top-tier university.
• Strong understanding of credit risk, financial analysis, structuring, stress testing and jurisdiction risk, and their application in lending decisions for single counterparty credit risk appetite.
• Able to manage credit risk appetite with early-stage deal screening, detailed due diligence, and timely execution of transactions with credit memo analysis and independently written Risk recommendations.
• Early-stage deal screening and due diligence of new transaction requests, with the ability to unpack complex situations or niche sectors to find out-of-box solutions, and value creation for clients.
• Influence structuring for best-in-class underwriting and to achieve successful and timely transaction execution and syndication.
• Champion business initiatives which promote revenue growth whilst protecting against the downside risk by identifying the short- to medium-term risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and develop the risk capabilities, and skills to meet ongoing business needs and plans.
- Dynamically manage a portfolio of asset classes and credit risk counterparties (often bespoke) in the global portfolio, understand the client by geography, industry, and structural differences.
- Conduct periodic portfolio and transaction stress testing based off dominant rating agency methodologies.
- Pro-actively manage transactions ahead of credit deterioration (Early Alert Review) with detection through portfolio reviews, adhering to industry strategies, market monitoring, and lessons learned.
- Ensure effective management of the operational risks within the Risk and compliance with applicable internal policies, and external laws and regulations.
- New transaction deal screening and due diligence, with the ability to unpack complex situations or niche sectors to find out-of-box solutions, and value creation for clients
- Influence business and / or support senior credit risk officers for best-in-class underwriting with a deep dive into market analysis and rating agency methodologies.
- Conduct new transaction request due diligence with expert judgement on asset portfolio risk, structural mitigants, originator and servicer analysis, supporting cashflow stress testing, operational risk assessments and liquidity / asset realisation assessmen.
- Review Business Credit Applications, ensuring these are in line with internal Credit Underwriting Principles, and a timely submission for credit approval.
- Independently critique and recommend / approve credit and rating proposals, in line with defined risk parameters, negotiated credit terms and documentation review.

- Expertise in securitisation, asset-backed finance, and structured credit (ABS, RMBS, CMBS, CLO, ABF, ABL, warehouses).
- Strong credit risk judgement and decisive opinion under pressure.
- Advanced structuring, financial analysis, stress testing, and portfolio monitoring.
- Translate complex risks into clear recommendations.
- Proven ability to challenge and influence senior stakeholders.
- Strong engagement across 1LoD, 2LoD, and geographies.
- Solid knowledge of credit documentation, underwriting, and regulations.
- Experience managing complex counterparties across regions and assets.
- Insight into market risk, governance, and enterprise risk.
- Experience in policy, control, and portfolio standards.
- Familiar with PRA/FCA requirements and MRT roles.
- Cross-cultural collaboration and global teamwork.
Qualifications
Our Ideal Candidate:
- University degree or equivalent
- Seasoned credit professional in the structured credit markets of asset-backed financing in securitisation. Experience warehouse, asset-based finance and traded asset backed securities, across geographies and asset type (ABS, CLO, RMBS).
- Strong understanding of credit risk, financial analysis, structuring, stress testing and jurisdiction risk, and their application in lending decisions for single counterparty credit risk appetite.
- Able to manage credit risk appetite with early-stage deal screening, detailed due diligence, and timely execution of transactions with credit memo analysis and independently written Risk recommendations.
Experience gained from an investment bank or a structured finance group of a major international organisation. - Strong English communication (written and verbal).
