Job Summary

The Global CIO Office is a key pillar within Wealth Solutions. This function establishes the bank’s investment outlook, generates investment ideas and communicates these ideas effectively to our clients and stakeholders. 

The role of a Senior Investment Strategist within the equity strategy team of the Global CIO Office will involve: (i) co-ordinate the creation and maintenance of high quality views on global equities, including equity regions, sectors, themes and single stocks; (ii) collaborate with colleagues and guide junior members within the CIO Office to effectively formulate the house views in equities and other asset classes; (iii) create publications and write market commentaries related to equities; (iv) support key stakeholders like investment advisors and relationship managers in external client meetings to present the bank’s investment outlook and house views; (v) be a strong advocate of the CIO Office views to both internal stakeholders and external clients; (vi) support the communication of CIO Office views via written, verbal and multi-media communication channels; (vii) maintenance of a high quality governance process.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy
•    Co-ordinate the formulation of high-quality equity market views, including a conviction list of single stocks.
•    Demonstrate quality of views via strong performance of views and strong communication to internal stakeholders and external clients. 

Business
•    Drive traction of CIO views across the full range of business stakeholders.

Processes
•    Ensure view formation process adheres to the CIO Office investment process.

People and Talent
•    Help mentor junior team members and help them grow
•    Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from their team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.

Risk Management
•    Actively manage the risk of equity house views.

Governance
•    Maintain a high-quality governance process, ensuring all processes are well documented.
•    Collaborate effectively with colleagues from our legal and compliance, and global business manager teams, to design and implement governance processes.

Regulatory and Business Conduct

•    Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct. 
•   Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
•    Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
•    Fulfil and adhere to requirements to be an MAS appointed representative 
•    Lead the Wealth Solutions Global CIO office to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles: Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Financial Markets; Financial Crime Compliance; The Right Environment. 
•    MAS prescribed responsibilities

Qualifications

•    Education: Bachelor’s Degree Finance/Economics/Business or equivalent


Our Ideal Candidate

•    8+ years of experience in equity analysis and financial markets

•    Expert understanding of single stock and equity market drivers, including equity regions and equity sectors

•    Strong communication skills, via written publications and oral presentations, to communicate investment views

•    Strong interpersonal skills and diligence to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders and clients

•    Analytical mindset with a positive attitude to adapt to changing market conditions and collaborate effectively with the CIO Office to deliver successful client outcomes

•    Maintains a high-quality governance process
