Job Description: 

Job Summary

The Senior Manager – Change & Transformation is responsible for leading and delivering complex, cross functional change initiatives across GIAI, ensuring strategic alignment, disciplined execution, and sustainable adoption of new ways of working.

The role oversees a portfolio of transformation initiatives, establishes and maintains robust delivery governance, and partners closely with the GIAI Technology Team,  Technology & Operations (T&O), the Chief Data Office (CDO), and other businesses and functions to achieve enterprise level outcomes. The role plays a critical part in embedding new tools, platforms, and capabilities, while ensuring change is delivered in line with the Group’s risk, governance, and business conduct expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy
•    Own and oversee the GIAI transformation portfolio, ensuring initiatives are aligned to GIAI and Group strategic priorities and deliver measurable business outcomes. 
•    Translate strategic objectives into clear, executable change roadmaps with defined milestones, dependencies, and success measures. 
•    Provide thought leadership on change and transformation approaches, drawing on best practice and lessons learned across the Group. 
•    Support senior leadership decision making through high quality insights on progress, risks, interdependencies, and value realisation.

Business
•    Drive execution of cross functional change initiatives, coordinating activity across audit, technology, data, operations, and other enabling functions. 
•    Work with leads and the wide COO Team to ensure transformation change programmes are funded and resourced effectively, and delivered in line with budget.
•    Act as a trusted partner to business stakeholders, ensuring transformation initiatives address real business needs and deliver tangible benefits. 
•    Ensure effective stakeholder engagement and communication, building strong alignment across diverse teams and geographies. 
•    Proactively identify opportunities to simplify, standardise, and improve business outcomes through change initiatives.

Processes
•    Implement and maintain fit for purpose governance frameworks for programme and portfolio delivery, aligned to Group Change Delivery Standards. 
•    Establish consistent change delivery disciplines, including planning, dependency management, benefits tracking, and post implementation review. 
•    Enable the successful adoption of new tools, platforms, and processes, ensuring changes are embedded into day to day operations. 
•    Drive continuous improvement of change and delivery processes based on performance insights and feedback.

People and Talent 
•    Influence and support leaders and teams through change, fostering a strong change mindset and culture of continuous improvement. 
•    Coach and support change and delivery resources, helping to build sustainable transformation capability within GIAI. 
•    Partner with People and Talent teams to identify capability gaps and support development of skills aligned to the change agenda. 
•    Role model inclusive, collaborative leadership behaviours and promote effective ways of working across teams.

Risk Management
•    Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring all financial, procurement, and outsourcing activities comply with Group and local regulatory requirements.  
•    Identify, assess, and manage risks arising from transformation initiatives, ensuring timely escalation and mitigation. 
•    Ensure change initiatives operate within GIAI’s risk appetite and comply with the Group Risk Management Framework. 
•    Maintain appropriate controls over delivery, data, technology, and operational risks associated with change activity. 
•    Support a strong risk culture by embedding risk awareness into change planning and execution.

Governance 
•    Establish clear accountabilities, decision rights, and reporting structures for programmes and initiatives within the transformation portfolio. 
•    Provide transparent, accurate, and timely reporting to senior forums and stakeholders on delivery status, risks, and outcomes. 
•    Ensure compliance with internal policies, standards, and delegated authorities throughout the change lifecycle. 
•    Support audits, reviews, and assurance activity related to transformation delivery where required.

Regulatory and Business Conduct 
•    Ensure all change and transformation activity complies with applicable regulatory requirements and internal policies. 
•    Embed conduct risk considerations into programme design and delivery, ensuring outcomes align with the Group’s values and standards. 
•    Promote ethical behaviour, integrity, and accountability in all aspects of the role. 
•    Actively support a culture of “doing the right thing” and sustainable long term value creation.

Other Responsibilities
•    As part of the wider COO team, the role holder will be expected to support the delivery of the function’s priorities with ad hoc project work as required.
•    Embed Here for Good and Group’s brand and Valued Behaviours in the GIA COO team and support these across the wider function.
•    Perform other responsibilities assigned under Group, Country, Business or Functional policies and procedures.

 

Our Ideal Candidate

•    A certified Project Manager, Scrum Master and/or Change Practitioner (e.g. PMI, PRINCE2, CSM/PSM)
•    8+  years working experience in Change and Transformation roles with a clear track record of successful change delivery, ideally within an Internal Audit function.
•    Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to influence at senior levels.
•    Good understanding of analytics, machine learning and Artificial Intelligence, and proven ability to understand problem statements and identify opportunities for use of these techniques. 
•    Outstanding communication skills, both oral, written and presentation.
