Job Description: 

Job Summary

Model Risk Systems is a function within Model Risk Policy & Governance (“MRPG”) which is part of the broader Enterprise Risk Management organization within Risk & Compliance. Model Risk Systems is responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the Group Model Inventory system. The function supports the Business and Risk in the use of the model risk system to manage their model portfolios and ensure alignment to Group Model Risk Policy, Standards and the established Model Lifecycle. Model Risk Systems is also responsible for the specification and design of a new Model Risk Management System as part of ongoing compliance activities under Supervisory Statement 1/23 “Model Risk Management Principles for Banks”. This Business Analyst role will support the ongoing rollout of the new Model Risk Management System, encompassing both Models and Deterministic Quantitative Methods (DQMs), as defined in SS1/23.  

Key Responsibilities

Strategy
The Business Analyst, Model Risk Systems will support the specification and design of a new Model Risk Management System by: 
•    Working with stakeholders to define & agree requirements for each functional component of the new Model Risk Management System. 
•    Working with Technology to define & agree the design of each functional component of the new Model Risk Management System 
•    Working with stakeholders to ensure all functional components meet requirements by supporting user acceptance testing and user validation testing. 
•    Working with stakeholder and Technology to identify, address and resolve any bugs or implementation errors in the new Model Risk Management System identified during UAT. 
•    Working with the Project Management Office to ensure milestones dates are adhered to and any risk to milestone delivery is promptly escalated.  

Business
•    Embrace Agile methodologies to ensure requirements, design and testing activities progress in line with the established project plan. 
•    Log, monitor and progress all requirement tickets and change requests for the new Model Risk Management System in ADO 
•    Provide timely and high-quality responses to queries and requests from Technology or other stakeholders. 
•    Liaise and follow up on deliverables with all model risk systems stakeholders for efficient implementation of model risk systems initiatives. 
•    Identify, summarise, and provide proposed mitigation for any risks identified that might impact model risk systems initiatives. 
•    Be able to clearly explain issues identified, along with the risk and causes to stakeholders, using language designed to be understood by non-experts. 
•    Independent thinker with strong written and verbal communication skills 
•    Carry out additional duties as assigned

Processes
•    Track and drive delivery of any action items relating to model risk systems  
•    Participate in relevant model platform activities and its user acceptance testing to ensure key features across model lifecycle are appropriately implemented.  
•    Carryout regular reviews of model risk systems processes ensuring they are efficient, effective and relevant. 
•    Follow Agile methodologies to ensure efficient delivery of milestones.  
•    Engage with all model risk systems stakeholders for efficient communication and implementation of deliverables, and facilitate issue resolution

Risk Management
•    Utilise prior experience and knowledge to suggest potential improvements to the Model Risk Management System  
•    Monitor all model risk systems risks and issues. Where appropriate, direct remedial action and/or ensure escalation to model risk systems

Governance 
•    Adherence to confidentiality agreements. 
•    Adherence to all relevant SCB Group Policies and Standards. 

Regulatory & Business Conduct 
•    Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct. 

Key stakeholders
•    Internal/External Stakeholders: Technology, Model Owners, DQM Owners, Model Risk Portfolio Management, Model Risk Policy & Governance, Model & DQM Development, Group Model Validation, PMO. 

Skills and Experience

Degree or equivalent educated 
•    6-8 years of working experience in the delivery of risk management systems within financial services  
•    Extensive experience of the software development lifecycle 
•    Experience utilising and working within Agile project methodologies. 
•    Extensive experience of fulfilling Business Analyst activities such as requirements gathering, solution design, UI mock-ups, process design, delivery testing etc. 
•    Broad knowledge of risk management processes and associated control requirements, ideally with a focus on Model Risk 
•    Understanding of SS1/23, SR11-7 and other Model Risk regulatory requirements 
•    Experience in Data Migration, Data Processing (ETL) and Data Mapping. 
•    Experience with Data Structures, SQL, and Reporting platforms. 
•    Experience with ticket management systems: Atlassian JIRA, and Azure DevOps (ADO). 
•    Experience with collaboration software such as SharePoint, Confluence, Social Intranets. 
•    Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project and PowerPoint. 
•    No-code/development skills are essential. 
•    Ability to engage senior stakeholders effectively and maintain productive working relationships.  
•    Expert in presenting difficult concepts in a clear and concise way. 
•    Analytical, problem-solving skills 
•    Focused and organised, with the ability to prioritise and deliver effectively. 
•    Ability to respond quickly in a fast-moving environment.  
•    A self-starter and proactive
