Job Summary

As a Senior Officer within the Cash Management Operation team at Standard Chartered, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing and developing our payment service products. The position requires a strong focus on positioning the processing centre as a key contributor to revenue generation by ensuring efficient, cost-effective operations aligned with the budgetary framework. You will be charged with minimizing operational costs such as courier and communication expenses and implementing controls to achieve budget adherence.

Your responsibilities will extend to maintaining the integrity of financial operations by preventing revenue leakage and ensuring all P&L account debits occur only with appropriate authorization. The role emphasizes delivering exemplary service levels to stakeholders and corporate clients guiding them on compliant money transfer solutions to countries with exchange controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all transactions within the Cash Processing Centre (CPC) are rigorously checked for authenticity, accuracy, and compliance with remitter instructions.
  • Manage daily internal account reconciliations, promptly addressing discrepancies in sundry, erroneous, and CSA accounts with corrective actions.
  • Resolve Nostro account unreconciled items rapidly to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Consistently meet processing turnaround times as per service level agreements with all internal units.
  • Handle enquiry and complaint resolution efficiently within predefined timeframes to uphold high customer satisfaction.
  • Stay well-informed of all operational policies and product procedures related to cash management operations.
  • Act as custodian for bank keys and bulk stock management when required, ensuring secure handling and accountability.
  • Provide supervisory support across other desks, offering backup and guidance as necessary.
  • Ensure cheques of various types including clearing, collections, and post-dated cheques are authenticated and processed accurately and timely.
  • Maintain robust reconciliation practices for all financial instruments processed to prevent revenue leakage and unauthorized debits.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in banking or financial services, with a particular focus on remittance processing, cheque clearing, and cash management operations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and completeness in processing financial transactions and reconciling accounts.
  • Proven ability to work cooperatively in a team environment while taking end-to-end ownership of assigned responsibilities.
  • A results-driven mindset with the capacity to maintain energy and optimism under pressure whilst delivering outstanding client service.
  • Highly developed communication skills enabling effective negotiation, influence, and management of both internal teams and external clients.
  • Ability to develop and sustain productive working relationships with peers, business partners, and clients.
  • Comfortable engaging directly with clients and business stakeholders, with demonstrated capacity to understand client needs and offer appropriate operational guidance.
  • A strong client focus, prioritising responsiveness and quality in service delivery.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Finance or a related discipline is essential to equip you with foundational knowledge relevant to banking operations and payments processing.
  • Proficiency in English and Arabic languages is required to effectively communicate across diverse internal and external stakeholder groups throughout the Middle East region.
