Job Summary

Trade Specialist is assigned to dedicated teams or may be shared resources (ie pool approach) supporting multiple teams, taking into consideration the following:
•    Economies of scale for dedicated Trade Specialist for each team or a pool of Trade Specialist supporting multiple teams.
•    Need for co-location with multiple teams vs single team.
•    Productivity / Capacity of Trade Specialist assigned to dedicated teams vs pool of Trade Specialist supporting multiple teams

The Trade Specialist role is to provide expertise & support to BB Unit to identify trade opportunities within the BB client segment and grow trade revenue contribution to BB through the following: 
•    To work closely with BB frontline teams and internal business partners to jointly develop in trade finance solutions and deliver these trade services in a manner that are relevant to the BB clients.
•    To develop and identify new prospects for Trade onboarding / cross-sell and provide Trade-related news / updates to targeted prospects through SCB marketing communication, client events & alliances with external partners (for e.g. trade associations / accounting firms / etc).
•    To review BB RMs’ account plans with a view to increase SCB wallet share for Trade products and to increase contribution of trade revenues.  
•    To guide and manage documentation and post transaction monitoring and servicing.  Be the contact point and hand- hold newly onboarded BB Trade clients during the first 6-12 months of onboarding to drive utilisation of Trade facilities, across BCA and non-BCA clients.
•    To obtain latest product developments from TB and update sales team of new trade related development and latest integrated channels capabilities (for e.g S2B NextGen Trade)
•    To conduct training & best practice sharing sessions with all BB frontline teams and touch - points on various Trade related initiatives and product knowledge.

Key stakeholders

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including BB frontline sales team & management, BB PSD, Trade ops, BB BMO, CB&M, GBA, YRD, Compliance, S&T, MO, BRM, Finance, Group BB and IT... etc.


 

Skills and Experience

  • Understand, acknowledge and comply with the requirements on individual accountabilities and responsibilities of the job set out in applicable local laws and regulations as well as SCB internal policies
  • Effectively ensure and intensify internal controls by keeping abreast with developments of applicable local laws and regulations on accountabilities
  • Perform job duties with diligence, contribute to efforts as an individual or as a team member so as to avoid any actual or potential legal sanctions, regulatory penalties, material financial loss, or adverse reputational impact on the Bank  
  • Be responsible for failure to follow relevant rules and processes, failure to properly perform the responsibilities, and implement corrections

  • Properly perform the duties on management and ensure the effectiveness of internal control
  • Be responsible for regulatory failure or risks arising from or in connection of the event over which the employee has the duties of management and/or leadership 
  • Be responsible for significant losses due to failure of effectiveness of internal control

Qualifications

•    Sound knowledge of bank products, services, procedures and regulations, equities markets, unit trusts and other personal investment services.
•    In-depth knowledge of operational risk management and reputational risk management.
•    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to deal with all levels of people, often in complex and difficult situations.
•    Team player who shows initiative and assertiveness and good leadership qualities to motivate the team.
•    Self-motivator who is keen to upgrade, improve personal knowledge and skills to meet job requirements.
•    Good command of both spoken and written Mandarin and English. 
•    Ability to conduct stakeholder’s meeting, workshop, gathering of user requirements for system development & enhancements, perform UAT etc.
•    Other then the above roles, job holder should follow other job duties and responsibilities assigned by line manager from time to time. 
•    Accountable for implementing and complying with AML requirements when performing duties.
