RESPONSIBILITIES
The AD, Sustainable Finance Solutions - Governance will have experience in governance across the Bank. They will have a knowledge of Sustainable Finance and ESG regulatory developments, supervisory standards and best practices. They will have a passion for Sustainable Finance and be a self-starter and quick learner.

They will ensure that the risk control environment in CSO (Chief Sustainability Office) at Standard Chartered is reviewed regularly and all required mitigants are in place. They will be able to relate these risks and mitigants to the wider Sustainable Finance landscape and have a good understanding of Greenwashing risk. They will also be able to work with CSO stakeholders across Coverage, products, Risk and Compliance to ensure controls are regularly reviewed and fit for purpose. This role will support the Sustainable Finance Solutions team to use governance and the mitigation of greenwashing risk to drive sustainable finance revenues across the Group.

Strategy
•    Support the risk and controls monitoring of CSO processes and sustainable finance products, with a focus on the ensuring controls for Sustainable Finance products and processes are robust – including the qualitative and quantitative assessment of the controls. 
•    Support the development and monitoring of sustainable finance products, with a particular focus on governance and controls.

Business
•    Assist in ensuring that all new products, which form a significant part of the Sustainable Finance corporate plan, have robust risk controls built around them 
•    Ensure that KPI linked transactions have adequate and impactful KPIs and SPTs. This will involve heavy engagement with internal deal teams and clients. It will require a robust knowledge of sustainable finance, KPI setting, benchmarking and instinctive greenwashing risk control 
•    Ensure actions around SF product / process governance uplift are tracked and followed up 
•    Provide up to date monitoring, testing outcomes and recommendations to key risk forums – Sustainable Finance Governance Committee and Group Non-Financial Risk committees 

Processes
•    Ensure SF adheres to existing operational processes and work to improve or create new operational processes and controls e.g., working closely with Head of SF Solutions - Governance for new products, Sustainability Linked assessments 
•    Ensure SF products and processes standards are upheld to mitigate any greenwashing risk including constant review of the portfolio and improvements in process required 
•    Ensure that existing controls are implemented and reviewed regularly including conducting Controls Sample Testing (CSTs), Residual Risk Assessments per Risk Controls Self-Assessment. 
•    Ensure that actions (from governance committees, audit, regulator conversations) are followed up with rigour

People & Talent 
•    Develop a strong working relationship with COO Functions, Product Teams, Finance, GRPA, Compliance, Legal, ESG and Reputational Risk, Operational Risk and Coverage

Risk Management
•    Ensure risks and issues within SF processes and products are self-identified, escalated and monitored appropriately with an action plan going forward 
•    Ensure that appropriate risk metrices relating to CSO processes are submitted and monitored 
•    Assist in ensuring all material operational risks are identified, assessed, mitigated, monitored and reported to relevant governance forums 
•    Assist SF Solutions in identifying areas of operational risk for new products and new business, regulatory and thematic risks, and then being able to ensure implementation of appropriate controls to mitigate these risks 
•    Assist in ensuring that product constructs are robust and that risk controls are adequately implemented

Governance 
•    Assist with project management of key initiatives and coordinating with stakeholders across COO Functions, Product Teams, Finance, GRPA, Compliance, Legal, ESG and Reputational Risk, Operational Risk and Coverage and others 
•    Support projects related to product roll outs and Sustainable Finance Governance 
•    Responsible for ensuring SF Solutions owned documents are refreshed in a timely manner 
•    Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • 4+ years of experience in sustainable finance labels, in particular Transition Finance.
  • Knowledge of E&S risks, experience with mitigation of rep-risk and other enterprise / franchise risks.
  • Strong knowledge of SCB’s approach to assessing climate risk.
  • Ability to collate data from many sources in the organisation to support assessment of eligibility of clients and transactions as Sustainable Finance.
  • Good writer and engaging speaker. Experience presenting at governance forums.
  • Ability to explain complex concepts in a simple manner.
  • Ability to form relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
  • Experience in responding to audit queries.
  • Demonstrated history of applying sound judgement with critical thinking skills and the necessary courage to challenge status quo and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Strong analytical skills, detail-focused with the ability to interpret large volume of information.
