JOB SUMMARY
We’re seeking a forward-thinking and connected individual to join our Data & AI team in a newly created role focused on AI Advocacy & Alliances. This role is central to strengthening our institutional voice in AI, forging influential partnerships, and embedding AI more visibly into our internal and external narratives
Reporting into the AI leadership team/Global Head of AI Enablement and working closely with stakeholders across the bank’s WRB, CIB, CABM, Strategy and innovation teams, this role will serve as a bridge between our AI ambition and the ecosystems that shape its future — including think tanks, academic bodies, industry alliances, and public forums.
AI will shape the future of financial services, but voice, visibility, and credibility will define the leaders. This role is at the heart of ensuring our bank not only participates in the AI conversation — but helps shape it.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy
Partner closely with the Corporate Affairs and Marketing teams to ensure consistent messaging across channels, platforms and markets.
Business
Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, including industry groups, academic institutions, think tanks and strategic alliances to enhance the bank’s voice and credibility in the global AI ecosystem
Processes
Support internal education and engagement efforts to drive AI fluency across teams, including working with HR, training leads, and internal comms.
Regulatory & Business Conduct

Key Stakeholders
Business Analysts, Business Partners, COO Business, ITO, CDO, internal staff, clients and 3rd parties.
Key Responsibilities
- Shape and drive the bank’s AI advocacy strategy, ensuring alignment with broader business and innovation goals.
- Identify and nurture strategic partnerships with think tanks, policy institutes, research bodies, AI forums, and event organisers globally.
- Develop and lead the bank’s participation in AI-focused global initiatives, dialogues, and consortia that shape policy, best practice and thought leadership.
- Champion the bank’s AI capabilities and impact stories internally — partnering with communications teams to amplify where appropriate, but owning the narrative from a content and positioning perspective.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the AI leadership team on reputational, regulatory and ecosystem trends relevant to AI.
- Track and engage with key opinion leaders, regulators, academics and convening platforms to build relevance and influence for the bank in the AI space.
- Work with internal teams to support education and awareness efforts on the ethical, responsible, and commercial use of AI across the organisation.
- Maintain a view of emerging conversations and standards in responsible AI, ensuring the bank stays ahead in how it is seen and how it acts.
Our Ideal Candidate
- 8+ years of experience in roles spanning AI strategy, innovation ecosystems, public affairs, partnerships, or policy — ideally with exposure to financial services or technology.
- Deep understanding of AI and data-driven transformation, with the ability to engage confidently on both technical and strategic themes.
- Proven track record of building influential partnerships and working across multifunctional global teams.
- Strong ecosystem awareness — comfortable navigating external institutions, policy networks, research bodies, and international events.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence without authority and operate across different levels of the organisation.
- A self-starter who is independent and proactive and who combines intellectual curiosity, operational drive, and strong stakeholder instincts.
Role Specific Technical Competencies
- Strong writing and narrative development skills across different formats and audiences.
- Proven track record in working cross-functionally across global teams and senior stakeholders.
- Experience managing external partnerships, preferably in the AI, tech or innovation space.
- Confident navigating complexity and ambiguity in a fast-evolving topic like AI.
- A self-starter who brings creativity, initiative, and sound judgment.
