JOB SUMMARY
The role of the Engineering Lead for CEE Hive is:
• Work closely with the Product Owner, Enterprise Architects, Engineering Analyst, Development team & other interface teams to support the analysis and solutioning of various CEE related technology initiatives.
• Drive the execution of projects in CEE, leading Delivery team.
• Suggests areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions.
• Train and mentor, the newer/junior team members to come up the curve by having training documents in place and conducting knowledge sharing sessions.
• Monitor the progress of team members and provide continuous feedback for them to be able to progress and grow.
• strategic role to provide overall technical leadership and direction encouraging innovation and improvement in the technology areas, processes and ways of working.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy
• Strategize the Technology roadmap for CEE Hive Delivery
• Foster engineering mindset among the people and develop talent within the team.
• Provide Inputs/ directions for strategic programs across Solutions, Design and Approach to implementation.
• Adopt the bank’s technology strategy and drive within our programs/ projects.
• Independently drive CCIB strategy on Design, API, Microservices, Cloud Adoption, Transformation led initiatives.
• Guide new ideas through the ideation and design process to ensure they are sufficiently defined to address and meet strategic goals.
• Build strong relationship with production support teams and SRE and proactively manage production service ticket and issues.
• Ensure that production defects are not only resolved, but also true root cause is understood to bring insight and actions plans to engineer for improving quality and resilience.
• Ensure tech Obsolescence across CEE Hive is remediated with no impact to stability.
Business
• Manage good relationship with our stakeholders in COO, PSS, Technology Services and Architecture teams.
• Work with Biz teams to define the outcomes and business benefits around Technology changes.
• Work with Business teams in articulating key technology risks so that its better understood. Work towards addressing these across our squads.
• Take part in Technology evaluation around Products / Services on new initiatives
Processes
• Adhere to ADO and Bank defined principles and guidelines on all Program delivery.
• Compliance on ICS guidelines, Security and Data protection
• Compliant to SDF/SIA process and drive bank towards automating process areas removing redundancies.
• Compliant SCB Group code of conduct and standards
• Compliance on CCIB Design and architecture guidelines , Data governance and policies
People & Talent
• Train, retain and motivate teams under you providing leadership where required.
• Recognize talent and identify the training/coaching areas for employees.
• Manage the expectations. Provide timely feedback on Performance, Training, Areas of improvement, Addressing Bias etc
• Identify top talent, succession planning, key person dependency/risk and constantly work to address them with the appropriate plans
• Be the face of the bank to your teams and communicate on things happening in department, bank, locale to drive the best results
Risk Management
• Anticipate and handle all the delivery challenges and risks and adhere to Group compliance requirements based on business criticality levels.
• Handle team capacity and manage workloads.
• Manage the team and raise upfront on the people onboarding requirements as early as possible.
Governance
• Need to be aware of the Group’s regulatory framework and is expected to adhere based on the role.
• need to understand the oversight and controls related to Business Unit, Job Function and deliver.

Skills and Experience
- Extensive experience in developing multiple large-scale software products, including estimating and monitoring development costs based on functional and technical requirements.
- Proficient in building large-scale applications using open-source technologies, Java, J2EE, and Python.
- Skilled in designing solutions leveraging AI and GenAI tools.
- Expertise in application development and hosting on AWS and containerized platforms.
- Strong knowledge of RDBMS solutions (Oracle, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (Cassandra).
- Familiarity with distributed technologies such as Kafka, Apache MQ, and RabbitMQ for scalable systems.
- Conducts walkthroughs and ensures the effectiveness and quality of development activities.
- Ability to design and implement smart, scalable, and reliable solutions under tight deadlines.
- Deep understanding of design patterns, development principles, microservices architecture, and coding standards.
- Solid grasp of fundamental architecture, object-oriented principles, and best practices in software development.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven experience in setting up and managing large delivery teams across multiple locations.
- Expertise in application delivery, including release management and production support.
- Experienced in Agile methodology, handling scrum of scrums, and Waterfall models.
- Highly motivated team player with a passion for collaboration and driving results, fostering a team-first attitude to improve organizational outcomes.

Development Manager Competency
- Extensive experience in managing delivery teams across multiple locations and overseeing people management.
- Strong expertise in understanding business requirements, defining project scope, estimating efforts, and creating plans for product delivery.
- Proven experience in delivering applications, including Sprint planning, SIT, UAT, and Performance Testing support.
- In-depth knowledge of ICS, Security Assessment, and Secure by Design standards.
- Skilled in collaborating with business stakeholders and senior technical leaders to deliver strategic solutions.
- Excellent teamwork skills, fostering strong relationships with developers and senior stakeholders.
- Experienced in evaluating team performance, providing constructive feedback, and preparing appraisals.
- Proficient in application management, including defining project objectives, resource planning, allocation, and project support.
- Adept at addressing issues related to application resource utilization.
- Extensive experience in application support and resolving critical production issues in collaboration with the PSS support team.
- Maintains strong technical knowledge to guide and enhance the development process.

- 13+ years of experience in application development, including leading large teams.
- Expertise in Python, Java, Spring, Quarks, Microservices, API Programming, Drools, and Flask.
- Proficient in technologies such as FileIT, Solace, API Gateway, Kafka, REST, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, NoSQL databases, Hive DB, and ELK.
- Skilled in implementing Cybersecurity and Security Assessment Controls.
- Extensive experience in PL/SQL programming, data Modeling, migration, data profiling, and hosting applications on OCP and Kubernetes platforms.
- Proficient in leveraging GenAI tools and building solutions using AI/LLM models.
- Experienced in hosting applications on AWS and implementing SaaS solutions.
- Adept at developing web applications using JavaScript and NodeJS.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with DevOps tools, including ADO, Docker, Maven, CICD pipelines (Jenkins, Bamboo), and other DevOps frameworks.
- Solid experience in shell scripting and caching frameworks.
