Job Summary
Background
The Brand Management and Marketing Team at Standard Chartered is responsible for the development and management of the company’s brand globally touching almost 83,000 employees across 52 markets. The team also leads the activation of the brand through marketing activities in collaboration with the regions, markets and businesses.
Overview
The Associate Director Brand Design is an integral part of the core brand team and will drive design excellence and quality of execution across the bank.
We are looking for a brand designer with experience gained in an international, multicultural environment. A problem solver and a natural collaborator who takes pride in and is excited about enabling brand design excellence across the organisation.
Responsibilities
Strategy
• Support corporate identity strategy globally to ensure alignment with overall corporate and brand strategy.
• Proactive evolution of design system to ensure Standard Chartered’s brand expression remains relevant and ahead
Business
Brand Design (80%)
• Support guardianship of the Standard Chartered Masterbrand and maintain brand guidelines and templates.
• Create and maintain brand assets, ensuring alignment with brand identity (Hero icons/ illustration/ source photography)
• Develop creatives for internal platforms: Brand Centre and Pulse
• Support the brand team in key decision-making forums for brand experience such as corporate office and branch design forums, UI/ UX teams, web and mobile, internal communications and employer brand.
• Support active solutioning for key campaigns e.g. sponsorships, local market campaigns, etc.
• Support Associate Director Brand Design in leading the Design Centre of Excellence, partnering with design hubs to set the benchmark for creative excellence.
• Support the production of Presentation decks.
• Support brand design training requirements for internal teams and agency partners.
• Identify emerging technology in design and production to drive efficiencies.
Brand Management (20%)
• Support the brand management team in timely review and approval of brand identity applications.
• Provide active design solutioning as required by markets and functions.

• Assist the brand team with capability upskilling in CABM related to brand design.
Risk Management
• Proactively manage risk by ensuring compliance with brand management standards
Governance
• Assist with keeping Brand Management Standards up to date and support on training

Our Ideal Candidate

• 6+ years experience in a global creative, advertising or branding agency. Must have experience working on global or regional brands.
• Experience as an in-house creative on client side will be advantageous.
• Agile across print, digital and social
• Experience in graphic design, branding and visual communication
• Proficiency in design tools
- Illustrator: Proficiency in vector-based design (logo, icon, patterns and etc.)
- Photoshop: Strong skills in image manipulation, compositing, and mock-up creation.
- InDesign: Experience in creating multi-page document (brand guideline)
- Figma: Basic understanding in UI design and UX flow
- After Effect: Basic knowledge on simple motion graphic design and video assets
- Microsoft Office: PowerPoint, Word, and basic Excel
• Understand Principle of design (Visual hierarchy, contrast, balance, layout, typography, etc.)
• An eye for trends in branding and design
• Ability to strike a balance between a creative design approach while keeping within established brand system.
• Hands-on approach with attention to detail, focusing on quality and precision.
• Ability to effectively prioritise multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment and respect timelines.
• Strong communication skills to rationalise solutioning and brand guidance.
• Proven ability to manage stakeholders of different seniority and strong cultural adaptability.
