Job Summary

The Associate Director, Business Manager, Treasury COO will support the team in driving business management activities, including non-financial risk management and oversight, treasury business support, governance and committee operations, as well as risk control self-assessment. The role serves as a trusted partner to Treasury leadership, providing insights and operational support to enhance business efficiency.

 

Scope of role:

•    Non-financial risk in Treasury for Group, cluster, country for Capital, Liquidity, IRRBB, FTP and RRP excluding Treasury Markets (below referred to as ‘Treasury’). 

 

Non-financial Risk Management and Oversight

•    Drive the implementation and oversight of non-financial risk policies in Treasury and provide leadership on embedding controls across relevant non-financial Principal Risk Type Frameworks and Policies.
•    Ensure new non-financial risk initiatives and programmes are embedded in the processes and governance framework in Treasury Markets. 
•    Continuously review and enhance existing control frameworks in Treasury. 

 

Treasury Business support

•    Manage and act as single point of contact for operational initiatives including but not limited to:
•    Resilience, business continuity, OCIR, 
•    EUC support 
•    Audit support

 

Governance / Committees 

•    Support and provide input to the Treasury non-financial risk committees and forums.

 

Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) 

•    Drive the periodic RCSA in Treasury and embed controls across relevant Principal Risk Type Frameworks and Policies.
•    Ensure that the RCSA framework is embedded adequately and effectively across Treasury including Group, cluster and country level.
•    Evaluate the adequacy of mitigating controls in place for critical processes.
•    Oversee the independent control testing performed by the control testing team and the effectiveness of control metrics.

•    Work to enhance the system capability and automation opportunities for MI/Reporting.
•    Monitoring, detection, escalation, mitigation of operational risk and operational losses 
•    Ensure top risks and associated tolerances are current and are regularly reviewed and reported.
•    Monitor non-financial risk, operational events and near misses.
•    Escalate issues appropriately when necessary to minimize surprises.
•    Provide feedback and direction on operational risk events and remediation.
•    Manage the non-financial risk reporting capabilities (M7 etc) for Treasury. 
•    Provide oversight and support to Treasury stakeholders in performing root cause review of operational risk events for institutional learning and enhancement of controls. 
•    Lead or support in defining treatment plans for elevated operational risks and events and monitor both the implementation of such plans and the closure of risk treatment.

 

Partnership with Stakeholders 

•    Engage effectively with Treasury process owners, their teams and second line and third line representatives.

Our Ideal Candidate
•    5+ years' experience in Treasury / Markets / Operations risk management or a related field

•    Bachelor’s degree in a related field

•    Non-financial risk management

•    Attention to detail
•    Succinct communication focusing on key messages 
•    Stakeholder engagement (across geographies)
•    Technical skills like Advanced Excel 

 

Role Specific Technical Competencies

•    Highly motivated individual, able to work independently, is comfortable with ambiguity, able to multi-task effectively in a fast paced environment and work well as part of a team

•    Strong problem-solving skills and proficient in Advanced Excel 

•    Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise with a broad range of stakeholders
