Job Summary
We are a climate technology firm focused on enabling green financing and the voluntary carbon market. Backed by Standard Chartered Ventures and collaborating with key players like Engie - a leading French Energy company, we develop innovative digital solutions to streamline processes for carbon credit projects, with a mission to empower project owners, financiers, and other stakeholders in sustainability.
As part of our growing team, you will have the unique opportunity to enable our success. Our digital platform is designed to develop and finance carbon credit projects. This role will contribute to scaling climate action in critical geographies for global carbon markets
As a Business Manager, you will work across various areas of Operations, Compliance and Risk. You will report to the Head of Finance/CFO/COO, as indicated by the CEO.
You will ensure that systems are put in place for regular reporting of risk metrics, and efficient implementation of controls, both on the Risk and Compliance sides.
We’re looking for a driven, systems and process-oriented person, who can help us move ahead with speed and precision.
A legal background is helpful, but not necessary. Ability to work in a matrix organisation is helpful.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement the current processes across Operations, Compliance, and Risk, as guided by your People Leader.
- Redesign of the current processes for automation, ease and simplicity is valued.
- Knowledge and expertise in automation tools will be valuable.
- Collaborate with the executive team to make sure key risks are always fully covered.
Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of compliance screening would be ideal. If no experience, training will be provided.
- Knowledge of Risk and Control Self-Assessment would be ideal. If no experience, training will be provided.
- Operations-oriented, and good at making process flow documentation, and following it, systematically
- You will report to one primary People Leader. At present, this is the Head of Finance/CFO. This may be changed to a COO, as indicated by the CEO.
- Your efforts will assist the broader Senior Management team in achieving their objectives. The other senior leaders in the firm would be Chief Product Officer, and the Chief Commercial Officer. A smooth Operations process enables steady growth of the client base, and the growth of the Technology Platform.
- Oversee interns, and junior Operations staff, as the team grows over time. Provide mentoring and guidance to such staff.
- Help with Employee Screening, as part of onboarding of staff and contractors.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in an Operations or Risk role, or equivalent.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to work well in a matrix organisation
- Excellent skills with Microsoft Office suite of products
Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)
- Knowledge of MS Visio, or similar project management tolls will be a plus.
- Understanding of carbon credit standards (Verra, Gold Standard, Puro, etc.).
- Experience with ESG risk modeling, impact assessment, or climate data analytics.
- A background in law will be helpful.
