Job Description: 

Job Summary

The Business Planning Manager, International Markets supports the Global Head, International Markets in driving strategic priorities, business performance, governance and organisational effectiveness across the function. The role focuses on business planning and strategic execution, financial stewardship, investment and vendor governance, management reporting, workload and demand oversight, and internal communications to support effective decision-making and delivery.

Role Responsibilities

Business Planning & Management, Financial Management

  • Support the definition and implementation of strategic workforce plans for the IM organization, ensuring productivity and efficiency targets are met, whilst also ensuring strategic demand for headcount to support services and projects are considered.
  • Work with the Global Head, IM to support delivery of the IM and T&O strategy, track progress of strategic initiatives, and coordinate with key stakeholders across the Bank to develop and implement recommendations.
  • Support the annual strategic planning process with Finance and facilitate prioritisation of key strategic initiatives.
  • Support the production of papers to the respective Board and Group Committees. 
  • Closely monitor any major developments in business-critical issues; assist the Global Head, IM in business review meetings, and, in collaboration with Finance, conduct proactive data analyses on major financial metrics.
  • In collaboration with CABM and relevant business teams, coordinate the Global Head, IM’s participation in external events and forums.
  • Coordinate monthly governance and tracking of benefit delivery against agreed targets, ensuring timely visibility and follow-up through the IM management team.

Key Responsibilities

Performance Management

  • Partner with the IM management team to support design and delivery of the strategic agenda relating to organisational performance and culture change, helping ensure priorities are understood and translated into effective execution.
  • Support delivery against committed financial targets by working closely with the IM management team on management reporting, financial planning, prioritisation and related management deliverables.
  • Ensure strong organisational awareness of key strategic changes impacting clients and teams through a robust communication, engagement and change management strategy and plan including the embedding of broader Bank strategic changes.
  • Engage with IM MT as required, to advise on, support the optimisation of processes (as enablers) to support the target state operating model including process optimisation that aligns with the scorecards for the teams within IM.

 

Training & Communications

  • Develop and deliver internal communications aligned to IM priorities, supporting employee engagement, strategic clarity and effective execution.
  • Training, upskilling and knowledge management initiatives across IM
  • Partner with stakeholders such as HR to develop effective communications approaches that reinforce the employee value proposition in line with the Bank’s strategy.

 

Inter/Intra Group Governance

  • Build strong, trusted stakeholder relationships across IM and with senior stakeholders across the Group.
  • Act as a point of coordination across key stakeholders and the IM management team to support effective delivery of the strategic agenda and manage competing priorities.
  • Support communication of the IM strategic agenda and progress through regular stakeholder engagement and timely updates, including governance committees, forums and project reporting.

Our Ideal Candidate

Skills & Experience

  • 15 plus years of relevant experience in business planning, programme delivery, strategy execution or business management within a complex organisation, including experience in banking, consulting, technology or other relevant industries.
  • Strong financial management background in a COO or Business Management role, preferably supporting technology teams.
  • Experience in innovation and change delivery within a complex organisation.
  • High levels of energy, commitment and personal accountability, with a strong focus on delivering value.
  • Strong sense of personal ownership and responsibility in accomplishing the organisation’s goals.
  • Demonstrates a pragmatic, hands-on approach to execution and delivery.
  • Able to get things done in a quick-paced environment. Be transparent and open around what doesn’t work and what does.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills with ability to manage multiple deadlines and effectively prioritise.
  • Experience of influencing relevant stakeholders and decision makers, and executing decisions efficiently and consistently
  • Excellent communication skills - oral, written and presentation - including technical report writing for a range of audiences.
