JOB SUMMARY

Standard Chartered’s Cash management business sits within its Transaction Banking business with presence in over 40 countries. It offers a holistic suite of payment and liquidity management solutions to our clients whilst being at the forefront of product innovation. Cash Management business is a key CIB pillar and major contributor to the bank’s overall liquidity pool, revenue and returns. It is a significant and value accretive business with tremendous opportunity for further growth.
Standard Chartered’s Financing and Securities Services (FSS) business provides a range of products and services to clients. The core offerings of FSS include Custody, clearing and fund services. It has a large and expanding network presence in emerging markets and is focused on digitization and product capability expansion, especially in the digit assets space.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy, Business Processes
• Responsible for the full end to end P&L and balance sheet oversight of the Global Cash Management and FSS Businesses.
• Drive performance management activities and ensuring the Global Cash Management and FSS organization reach their financial targets.
• In conjunction with the Business Head of the Cash Management Business and his team, craft and drive the mid-term and long-term strategy for the business.
• Create, tailor and deliver key external and internal messages regarding the strategy and performance of the business.
• Lead the annual corporate plan and target setting process for the Cash management and FSS organization, liaising with Group FP&A, Treasury, regional and country business heads to ensure a robust business plan with sufficient challenge and rigor. Link the business plan to the overall business strategy and key performance metrics (KPI’s) and ensure full visibility and transparency on performance across all metrics.
• Act as a senior business advisor to deliver business insights and high impact, executive ready analysis to drive performance and enable management decision making. Thorough understanding of the underlying drivers of the Cash management and FSS business and regularly present opportunities and levers to drive revenue and returns performance.
• Active engagement at regional and global Management Business Reviews to drive performance management and cost discipline, ensuring regional and global alignment on financial outlook and forecast.
• Drive a robust and accurate flash and forecasting process across P&L and Balance Sheet, ensuring quality of inputs as well as consistency of formats, definitions, and methodologies across regional teams.
• Anticipate, assess and communicate the impact of changes in liquidity, interest rate, fund transfer pricing to the TB business, including proposals for mitigating activities.
• Active engagement and partnership with Treasury and CPM organization to influence and ensure alignment on FTP policies and OPAC classifications and ensure the right incentivization frameworks in place.
• Active awareness and thought leadership on market trends/industry developments and deliver robust competitor benchmarking & peer analysis to understand Cash and FSS performance against peers and influence business strategies regarding product innovation and best practice to optimize our market position.
• Develop and maintain appropriate policies and procedures which ensure that the cost budgets are rigorously adhered to, that resources under the direct control and influence of the Cash and FSS businesses are spent carefully, and only in support of Businesses PMC or Group approved plans and initiatives.
• Ensure that investment costs are properly managed and accounted for, including inputs into business cases with clearly defined benefits, articulated in sufficient detail to enable subsequent benefits tracking.
• Spearhead deep dives and strategic initiatives to drive continuous improvements to the business’s returns thereby optimizing RoTE and capital usage.
People & Talent
• Support the Transaction Services CFO in setting broader team priorities and initiatives, adopting an ‘agile’ approach to book of work management and prioritization, tracking team commitments and deliverables towards the collective goals.
• Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Guide, inspire and motivate the TB Finance offshore team, acting as their mentor and investing in their growth plans to ensure that each individual achieves their potential.
• Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of people and ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks.
• Ensure BAU processes offshore are robust with sufficient four eye checks, supervision, back up and succession planning in place to ensure accurate and timely deliverables for Cash Finance.
Risk Management
• Lead finance activities relating to business realignment and restructures including change management and restatement of financial and management reporting, corporate plans, scorecards, reporting structures, and financial systems as well as tracking and reporting of cost synergy achievements.
• Champion the TB Finance Change agenda by spearheading key initiatives to drive a “Best-in-Class” finance function with a specific focus on reports simplification, centralization and standardization.
Governance
• Active engagement and challenging committee representation at the Cash Management and FSS Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs), Quarterly Performance Review (QPRs), Non-Financial Risk Committee (NFRC) and other relevant governing bodies.
• Internal / external audit faceoff, including Stress Testing review for Cash Management and FSS Businesses
• Deep understanding and application of complex products, accounting, systems, controls, substantiation to New Product Approvals (NPA), industry/market developments (ie. IBOR transition, Basel IV) and accounting policy changes. Keep abreast with evolving regulatory changes and its impact on the Cash Management business.
• Oversight of existing booking model and the data standards to drive consistency in Cash Management and FSS businesses across geographies, with active participation in developing new booking model and ensure appropriate accounting flow. Responsible for review & approval of Cash and FSS Product Programmes (PPGs) on behalf of Global Finance.
• Responsible for the global effectiveness of the application of accounting and financial control policies and procedures for Cash, including working with Country and Regional CFOs to ensure the interfaces between the transaction booking system and the accounting infrastructure is properly maintained and controlled. This includes conducting regular financial reviews and health checks, driving consistent booking models across the regions’ transaction processing systems.
• Oversight of manual journal postings to ensure consistent, appropriate booking is undertaken and manual bookings are reviewed and adequately challenged.
• Ensure Balance Sheet Reconciliation and Substantiation is effective through understanding the front to back operational risk framework and controls for Cash, in line with Group Policies.

Our Ideal Candidate
• Qualified Accountant, with degree in finance or economics; MBA/CA or other post graduate qualifications
• 15+ years relevant experience in performance management or business finance partnering, gained in financial services/banking sector
