JOB SUMMARY

  • CIB Data Management is a function that sits within Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) COO organisation and is responsible for the data management activities within Client Coverage, Financial Markets and GCM. 
  • The role of the Business Data Architect” is to primarily support and implement data by design with-in their changes and projects.  This involves building an understanding of business data requirements for critical business data attributes, building/ mapping to the conceptual, logical data model, enhancement of the Logical data model, help programs with the target state data architecture, design/ implement DQ standards and work with technology counterparts to ensure accurate implementation. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy
Understand the following; 

  • Group Data Management Standards and all other policies/standards related to data
  • CIB Data’s vision and strategy and how it supports it’s strategic goals
  • CIB Business Plan and its strategic goals and enablers

Ensure the following; 

  • All changes are in line with the Group Data Management Standards and other relevant data related policies/standards
  • All design aspects of the change are fit for purpose, aligned to CIB Data Standards and Principles, and ultimately achieve the required business goals
  • Adherence to the relevant CIB procedures

Business

  • Ensure “Data by design” for CIB Coverage business by:
  • Developing an understanding of CIB Coverage data architecture, data lineage and current state data architecture Gaps.
  • Establishing a singular view of Coverage data by enhancing/ developing conceptual data model and data domains model.
  • Implementing the DQ change control framework to ensure critical data changes are aligned to the data models and data standards defined and implemented.
  • Support key Transformations in the Coverage business by providing Data Modelling expertise, Data by design recommendations and if required be able to deliver end to end data design activities.

  • Establish the framework to utilize the domains model for setting design for new standards adoption such as Data Security, Data Privacy, Records Keeping, Data Sovereignty, and others by discovering and mapping the associated Classifications of data.
  • Provide clear data definitions and data standards for all business terms to measure the Data Quality of captured and distributed data, to optimize the Data Design and resolve identified data definitions and standards deficiencies.
  • Implementing Reference Data Architecture Principles and Target design for reference data and guide and support group projects and changes with right reference data design usage. Proactively monitor the health of current Reference Data and provide the recommendations for the full certification.
  • Involve/ Engage Technology Architects and Teams to get support on Physical Data Architecture / Physical Data Models and related queries as required by Data Domain Ownership activities.
  • Ensure (and if required implement and operate) appropriate governance forums to govern Data Design and Architecture, including defining their roles and responsibilities, to govern and authorize Data Designs, Models, Standards and Principles.
  • Provide Data Architecture Consultation services to Group Projects and Change Initiatives.

Processes

  • Understand Coverage processes and how these processes create / Amend data.
  • Maintain a mapping of Processes to Conceptual data model as right level of granularity to support changes.

People & Talent 

  • Experienced in leading and developing enterprise level data models for Financial markets industries. 
  • Experience in developing Data Definitions and data standards for data attributes. 
  • Experience working with large data sets and relational databases
  • Knowledge in SQL and/or other data query skills
  • Experienced in of data quality management, metadata management and metadata tooling.
  • Experience in banking / financial institution preferred
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills; able to break down complex problems to identify core requirements 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present to various stakeholder groups 
  • Ability to work effectively as a self-starter with self-motivation, as well as good organisation skills, and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and engage with all levels of management
  • Good understanding of the risks related to poor data.
  • Innovative mindset that continuously looks out for automated solution rather than manual work around 

Risk Management

  • Identify risks and issues, and ensure appropriate mitigation or treatment plans are in place 
  • Actively manage risks and issues identified, and escalate appropriately 
  • Incorporate appropriate controls when designing processes/solutions 

Governance 

  • Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines 
  • Ensure all necessary agreements are obtained from the respective CIB Data workstream leads and are auditable

  • Embed Here for good and Group’s brand and values in Singapore CIB Data Team; Perform other responsibilities assigned under Group, Country, Business or Functional policies and procedures; Multiple functions (double hats); 

 

Our Ideal Candidate

  • 10 years of experience in leading and developing enterprise level data models for financial markets industries or Client Lifecycle Management.
  • Experienced in data modeling tool such as Erwin  
  • Experienced in data analysis tools such as Alteryx, Dataiku, or Informatica (Preferable)
  • Experienced in data visualization tool such as Tableau or the likes (Preferable) 
  • Experience in developing Data Definitions and data standards for data attributes. 
  • Experience working with large data sets and relational databases
  • Knowledge in SQL and/or other data query skills
  • Experienced in of data quality management, metadata management and metadata tooling.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills; able to break down complex problems to identify core requirements.
