Title: Director, Business Risk Management

RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy
• Support in the latest WRB strategy in pivoting to Affluent market and the execution in Retail Product
• Align to WRB and COO strategic agenda in acquiring client at scale economically through Partnerships.
Business
• Work with Group Process Owner of the Product Management Process (For Retail Product Management) / Group Head Partnerships (For Partnerships) and relevant Functional Heads to drive the design, implementation, and maintenance of Product Management related Process / Partnership Governance Framework
• Drive business Operational Risk governance by working with Business Heads and Risk Owners to identify and resolve existing operational risks and horizon risks that is unique to retail products and partnerships.
• Take the lead in identifying and driving initiatives designed to increase business operating efficiency and strengthen first line operational risk management in the Product Management and Partnership process.
• Drive or support transformational change initiatives to align with the latest WRB business strategy in pivoting to Affluent and enable business to grow/scale.
Processes
• Work with WRB business members to deliver and maintain optimal global design standards for Product Management Process / Partnership Process that are fit for business purpose and growth.
• This includes end-to-end assessment of operational risk, establishing and maintaining KCIs, CSTs and KRIs to manage operational risk, act on breaches, and approve or remediate deviations from global standards raised by the countries.
• Assess the impact of Group Risk Owner policy changes on the process, amend the relevant governance documents and ensure that the same is cascaded to countries and embedded with proper gap analysis and approved dispensations.
People & Talent
• Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from their team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
• Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of people, and ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks.
Risk Management
• Provide business input and oversight of the development of end-to-end scalable infrastructure (where appropriate) and processes to execute business processes pertaining to Product Management and Partnerships. This includes establishing and maintaining training, advice and support, to assure the processes, policies and standards are effectively implemented in the business.
• Reinforce an effective and exemplary risk and control culture and further strengthen the control environment.
• Act to minimize operational loss and audit failures and take proactive measures to respond to matters arising and identify and manage forward looking risks.
• Overall responsible for the implementation of ERMF/ORF for the process.
• Simplify processes and controls.
Governance
• Drive effective governance and oversight of risks arising from Product Management and Partnerships through effective Governance forums and committees, including Retail and SME Banking Product Committee (RS PC) and Partnerships Centre-of-Excellence (Partnerships COE).
• Enhance an integrated governance structure for the robust and efficient governance processes in the business.
• Reinforce an effective and exemplary risk and control culture and further strengthen the control environment.
• Support countries on issues and risk resolutions arising from BAU activities, audits, risk reviews etc within the processes.
• Responsible to ensure that key stakeholders and governance forums are kept up to date on key issues and resolution plans and overall progress on initiatives.
Regulatory & Business Conduct
• Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
• Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
• Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

• WRBMT and business (mainly Group Head of CCPL, Group Head Partnerships and respective Group Heads of Products)

• Key functional Heads, e.g.,
• Head, CFCC WRB
• Head of Legal WRB

• Country WRB Heads, and respective partnerships / retail product business heads
Other Responsibilities
• Embed Here for good and Group’s brand and values in WRB COO team
• Perform other responsibilities assigned under Group, Country, Business or Functional policies and procedures.
Our Ideal Candidate
- 10+ years relevant risk management experience and/or business experience in Wealth and Retail Banking.
- Demonstratable prior experience in risk identification and control design will be a key advantage.
- Knowledge of the Banks Enterprise Risk Management Framework, Policy and Standards is a plus.
- Familiarity with Product Management and Partnership Business.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong interpersonal, relationship building and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to think strategically as well as be able to execute.
- Collaborative and creative problem solver, while being outcome focused.
- Ability to make decisions in an unstructured environment and to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment
Role Specific Technical Competencies
- Knowledge of Non-Financial Risk Management (ERMF, Risk and Control Self-Assessment)
- Knowledge of Retail Business and products, including Partnership business.
- Knowledge of Product Management
- Experience of running any Committees or Forums would be a plus
