JOB SUMMARY

The role holder is responsible for supporting overall governance and compliance across risk types impacting Transaction Banking (TB), ensuring appropriate governance mechanisms, consistency and efficacy of Policy and Standards application across Transaction Banking.  They should maintain a holistic understanding of risk matters impacting the TB business.  Specific areas of focus for this role are on Risk & Governance Change, and on risk management for the TB Sales Business.

 

Risk Management

•    TB Sales Business risk management:  Lead first line risk management oversight for the TB Sales Businesses, ensuring end-to-end compliance and design / implementation across all risk types:
•    Undertake BAU management of risk and control related matters in support of TB Sales.  This includes identifying, logging, remediating and reporting risk issues, supporting GPOs / CPOs in the creation and delivery of RCSAs, undertaking proactive analyses and reviews to ensure audit readiness, and working with all lines of defence and Business management to ensure timely and transparent understanding of business risk performance.
•    Ensure alignment of risk principles to business strategy, and ensure the TB business remains prepared for new and emerging risks
•    Ensure TB Sales’ compliance with the banks Frameworks, Policies and Standards
•    Maintain and improve current business processes and associated documentation; maintain relevant Process Universe documents and records
•    Continuously raise awareness and champion a best practice, proactive risk culture
•    Work both at a Group and Country level to ensure best practice/ alignment with nuances being validated.

Governance and Regulatory
•    Risk & Governance Change:  Lead and coordinate change / implementation emanating from Policies and Standards or associated regulation:
•    Act as the primary contact and “Clearing House” for Policy & Standard consultations and impact assessments at a Group level.  Ensure that the correct areas / individuals within TB are involved, and that feedback is provided in a timely manner.
•    Ensure appropriate processes are in place to meet Policy and Standard requirements and changes, maintain a pipeline of work to ensure transparent and clear expectations on the business. 
•    Assess risk and control requirements associated with change initiatives.  Work with RFOs, GPOs, CPOs, and management to ensure change is both compliant and fit for purpose for TB.
•    For selected pan-TB initiatives, take the lead in delivering the change from inception through to completion and transition to BAU 
•    Oversee delivery of regulatory initiatives and adherence to best practice across TB.  Review & challenge where appropriate / required.
•    Maintain an understanding of key change initiatives in the network; maintain relationships with relevant in-country stakeholders
•    Proactively identify opportunities for improving risk and governance across the TB Process Universe Champion CIB alignment to achieve efficiencies where possible

 

Strategy

•    Identify and highlight any macro risk and control issues arising from Strategy or Transformation initiatives; support mitigating actions as required.
•    Identify opportunities for efficiency across TB governance processes, risk systems and infrastructure. Raise such opportunities with Business Heads, COO and MTs, and implement as required. 
•    Champion standardisation and best practice across TB by working closely with the Product COOs, GPOs, CPOs and all lines of defence in implementation of governance and risk frameworks.
•    Foster alignment with other CIB businesses by maintaining connectivity with relevant counterparts and cross-checking best-in-class approaches.

Our Ideal Candidate

•    University Degree or equivalent  
•    Detailed knowledge of Change and Risk management, ideally gained through experience in a mid to senior level role
•    12+ years of work experience in financial services

 

Role Specific Technical Competencies

•    Understanding of Risk management framework
•    Quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
•    Communication & Governance skills
•    Understanding of banking products, policies, processes, systems, data flows
