JOB SUMMARY

  • The role holder will be part of the Data Management, Governance & Performance Insights team under CIB COO (a) leading business implementation and enablement across all data management topics; (b) providing business data advisory services and (c) contribution to the regulatory interpretation and the formulation of the corresponding business enabling/risk mitigation approach.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy

  • The role holder will be part of the Data Management, Governance & Performance Insights team under CIB COO. The team undertakes first line of defence activities focusing on the following areas: (a) Set the Data Management Strategy for CCIB in line with the Group Strategic defined by the Chief Data Officer (CDO) team and in collaboration with the Digital Channels and Data Analytics (DCDA) team, (b) execute data management & governance activities for the processes, systems, products, services in scope of the business underpinned by the scope of the Data Conduct Policy (Data Quality, Records Management, Privacy, AI Ethics & Data Sovereignty, (C) Data Architecture governance & Design of data principles into new product and change processes and (d) provide performance management insights to the COO and operations community.

Business Data Advisory

  • Be accountable for the collective voice for CIB in providing feedback to CFCC on any changes being proposed to the data policies and underlying standards that impact CIB
  • Design and implement mechanism to report risk reduction on data risks that impact CIB in line with group methodologies
  • Agree on the risk appetite metric for data with CFCC and track CIB’s contribution to that metric outcome
  • Actively monitor, review and report on key control metrics / risk profile related to Data Management across the Business. Escalate risks to management or relevant committees on a timely manner. Make recommendations for improvements/changes based on the developed insights
  • Drive a superior risk culture for Data Management in CIB

  • Provide healthy challenge to the risk assessments performed where required; and assess adequacy of controls / in managing their data risk
  • Work directly with business heads and DCDA in enabling access to data in a safe manner that aligns to regulations but facilitates business needs e.g. analytics and insights
  • To lead CCIB wide Reg / Requirements Operationalisation (e.g. DS Playbook, Risk based approach for compliance with Privacy)
  • To formulate business enablers / risk mitigation approach (e.g. geo-political data risk analysis)
  • Contribute to the management of the CIB wide data quality risk including driving the acceptable levels of risk reduction targets in partnership with CFCC and CDO
  • Contribute to the end to end Data Quality Issue Management process for CIB in facilitating issue identification, triage, prioritisation, resolution and reporting
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of health metrics that help inform data quality for CIB and downstream consumers of CIB data

Business Implementation & Enablement

  • Represents the voice of CIB to functional partners (e.g. CDO, TTO) to co-design and operationalise new process / functionality / requirements for business adoption for data management.
  • Provide thought leadership to enable business through data.
  • Oversee and lead data quality governance for CIB working with the individual business aligned data management & governance Heads

People & Talent

  • Courageous and able to challenge the status quo
  • Demonstrated experience working in records management / data management projects, data governance in a distributed agile environment
  • Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of records management obligations, control framework & records keeping knowledge.

  • Ability to multi-task and manage stakeholders at various levels (both senior and working level)
  • Experience working either in the second or third line in an organisation
  • Optimistic attitude, enthusiastic learner with broad shoulders
  • Knowledge in records digitalisation/ imaging technology, industry records management tooling/solutions, will be an added advantage

  • Risk & Control savvy, conversant with Data Management policy and standards and Enterprise risk management framework and ability to apply with considerations to practical aspects with awareness to external regulatory standards 

Governance

  • Own and manage processes for oversight and challenge. 
  • Oversee and challenge 1st Line risk taking activities. 
  • Review 1st Line risk proposals and recommend decisions to approve or reject as appropriate. 
  • Review and challenge risk remediation plans set by the 1st Line to mitigate Risk Appetite breaches or issues. 

Regulatory & Business Conduct

Our Ideal Candidate

  • 10 years of experience working in Financial Institutions is critical. Knowledge of banking processes highly desired.
  • Experience with reviewing, understanding, and mapping a complex business process to determine how specific regulatory obligations & policy requirements impact a process and the respective controls/elements in those processes. 
  • Experience in delivering data governance and management changes in corporate banking environment necessary. 
  • Strong knowledge across key global and country regulations that drive data-related expectations required, e.g. BCBS 239
  • Proven track record designing solutions to meet policy and regulatory requirements for existing processes, in collaboration with technology. 
  • University Degree at Honours Level.
  • Proficiency in both written and verbal communication as this role is external facing in addition to influencing multiple internal senior stakeholders  
  • Should be a go-getter, self motivated individual
