Title: Director, Engineering Lead, WRB Tech

Job Summary
As an Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing delivery of high-quality, innovative products and solutions. Your role will involve strategic planning, technical leadership, and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and operations, to drive the development of scalable and reliable systems.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy
- Align technical solutions with strategic organisational goals and long-term vision.
- Lead and implement detailed technical solutions for complex, organization-wide projects including end-to-end holistic solution design (interfacing systems).
- Develop and drive technology strategy and roadmap in collaboration with the Subdomain Tech Lead.
- Provide high-level analysis for planning, and initiatives implementation approaches.
- Expert in solution sizing, estimation, and project forecasting
- Support audit reviews and exercises.
- Drive RFP and vendor evaluation exercise along with PO to ensure SCB technical standards are met
Business
- Act as a senior escalation point for technical issues.
- Promote engineering craftsmanship and drive strategic business value.
- Collaborate with PO and align technical solutions to support prioritized backlogs to deliver value driven capabilities.
- Oversee technical delivery and excellence across multiple squads or hives.
- Influence prioritization for technology backlog and strategic initiatives.
Processes
- Improve engineering processes to drive efficiency and collaboration.
- Analyse and mitigate dependencies to enable quality and speed of delivery.
- Drive solution standardization and service reusability.
- Define frameworks and standards for product.
- Actively contribute to process improvement and innovation
- Collaborate with IT Change and Release Managers to develop strategic delivery and release plans with technical dependencies.
- Ensure high-level technical consistency of solution with business and enterprise technology standards.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence within squads.
Risk Management
- Mitigate technical risks and ensure high-quality delivery.
- Ensure compliance with application security and regulatory standards.
- Manage technical risks throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Support required solution to achieve ERR Treatment plan
- Proactively identify and address potential risks.
- Ensure compliance with bank compliance guidelines & standards (e.g. data protection)
Governance
- Ensure product and solution development is aligned with enterprise architecture and standards.
- Maintain consistency in technical practices across squads.
- Lead governance of application/platform-specific technical standards.
- Address tech compliance (ESDLC) requirements throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Represent sub domain in relevant architecture forum and drive vendor solutions in accordance with organizational standards.
Regulatory & Business Conduct
- Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
- Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. Our Ideal Candidate
- 10+ years of proven experience in managing and delivering complex technical projects in an enterprise environment.
- Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring quality and timely delivery.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with Agile and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodologies.
- Capability to coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Specific examples of past project management successes, demonstrating effective leadership and delivery.
Role Specific Technical Competencies
- Strong engineering background with extensive experience in delivering high-quality technical solutions in an enterprise environment.
- Ability to interact with APIs, databases, and other technical components.
- Proficiency in understanding code and its implications on the system, enabling effective technical conversations and decision-making.
- Knowledge of modern software development practices and tools.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
