Job Summary

This role is part of the Trade Lending team, with a focus on Invoice Financing. The Product Manager is responsible for the development of product strategy, its execution and commercialization, robust product governance as well as business management of the Invoice Financing portfolio. 

Key Responsibilties

Strategy

  • Develop and execute on the product strategy for Invoice Financing. 
  • Support the delivery of the Invoice Financing agenda and key product initiatives by articulating the product vision to all stakeholders including CC, TB and broader CCIB team both in group and in the countries.
  • Understand market trends, client needs, and undertake competitor benchmarking to identify gaps and opportunities for Invoice Financing.
  • Develop and execute on strategies with stakeholders such as Distribution, Sales to grow the Invoice Financing portfolio and improve product returns.
  • Deliver in partnership with the product development teams the product backlog for any system / infrastructure development to support the overall strategic roadmap and value proposition with the right capability build across the bank’s global network.
  • Provide data driven analytics & insights to drive strategic discussions for Invoice Financing.

Business

Financial Performance: Product P/L Management

  • Support product P/L management for Invoice Financing
  • Help deliver the Invoice Financing budget, through active management of:
    • Revenue (existing and new revenue streams)
    • Contributing to Returns (i.e. product profitability)
    • Active business management through factors such as :1) No. of clients using the products 2) Utilisation %
    • Cost (operating cost for product)
    • Review and manage cost and efficiency of both allocated and direct cost

Commercialization of Invoice Financing capabilities

•    Develop a commercialization plan for Invoice Financing which integrates product positioning with client value propositions. 
•    Create a training roadmap for TB Sales, RMs, and TB product teams.
•    Conduct regular reviews of the Invoice Financing offerings to ensure a “fit for purpose” operating plan and product agenda.
•    Support the commercialization of Invoice Financing capabilities, including leveraging the new Invoice Financing PPG, Prism FX Invoice Financing capabilities and network monetisation opportunities


Client Engagement

•    Maintain some level of client contact, including client forums, workgroups, industry events and client meetings to ensure continuous improvement and positioning of Standard Chartered’s Invoice Financing solutions.
•    Monitor competitive positioning and provide comparison / positioning analysis for use by Sales / Coverage
•    Support sales campaign activities, with objective of wallet expansions across CCIB segments


Processes

•    Lead process design work with Operations, Technology and other function partners with the aim of translating process optimization to bottom line cost control with a high degree of reliability.


People & Talent

Training

•    Conduct training and workshop for internal stakeholders (i.e., TB/Sales/RMs etc) to increase Invoice Financing product knowledge and awareness.
•    Regular webinars and engagement with Sales, Country Product Managers to further strengthen product knowledge to drive commercialization.

Risk Management

•    Build deep and comprehensive knowledge of regulations and initiatives that may impact Invoice Financing to stay ahead of the regulatory change agenda and how it affects the product lifecycle.
•    Understand the risk associated with various products and variants and ensure suitability for clients
•    Work closely with Risk and other 2LOD partners to ensure that the infrastructure, processes, policies and control framework for the solution are designed to appropriately and adequately manage the inherent risks in the product and drive the right risk culture 
•    Take the initiative regarding regulatory, reputational and ethical matters by providing proactive advice to sales and implementation teams.
•    Ensure adherence with the highest standards of ethics, and compliance with relevant policies, processes and regulations.


Governance

•    Ensure robust governance framework for Invoice Financing and compliance to governance requirements with engagement with respective risk owners. 
•    Identify and mitigate operational, credit, regulatory, legal, fraud and risks in the product suite.
•    Evaluate current processes via a Business Conduct lens.
•    Conduct regular engagement with risk owners, Trade Risk members on product related risks, PPG changes, deal structures etc.
•    Understand Credit, Compliance, AML and FCC risk and apply appropriate risk mitigation processes.
•    Conduct regulatory reviews on their products in partnership with Legal and Compliance.

Regulatory & Business Conduct

•    Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct. 
•    Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. Our Ideal Candidate

•    7+ years of Banking Experience 
•    Strong working knowledge with hands-on experience of Transaction Banking Products across Trade and Working Capital Products 
•    Experience in Transaction Banking product management/ Invoice Financing preferred.
•    Strong analytical skills and problem solving skills
•    Strong communication and interpersonal skills to influence directly, indirectly and virtually across the SCB network.
•    Open minded with ability to explore new areas and new ways of working
•    Ability to keep abreast on changes in the market, customer requirement, competitor response and the Banks ability to use information to identify new business opportunities.
•    Graduate, post-graduate in Finance / MBA preferred
