Job Summary
SC Ventures is a business unit within Standard Chartered that provides a platform and catalyst for innovation, investment and exploration of alternative business models through venture building. SC Ventures is searching for a Director-level candidate to join its recently established Fundraising and M&A team supporting the venture portfolio built over the past six years. With both fast-growing and maturing ventures there is a need to support external fundraising and M&A activity.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy
- Evaluate opportunities for existing portfolio companies, including competitor research, sector, competitor and valuation benchmarking.
Business
- Deal management for Fundraising and M&A transactions, working with Operating Member and Deal Captain(s) on development and execution of a comprehensive fundraising plan. Coordinate work with ventures, financial advisors and team members to deliver overall deal execution. Liaison point with Operating Member for Fundraising and M&A and Fundraising Deal Captain as interface with ventures / investors and SC Ventures Operating Members
Processes
1) Manage the entire deal life cycle from originating to signing and closing deals.
2) Manage senior internal stakeholders and processes through deal life cycle.
3) Manage external advisers through deal life cycle.
4) Preparation of fundraising timeline, documents and data rooms
5) Build and evaluate financial models for deal analysis
People & Talent
- Manage internal project teams through the deal life cycle
- Work with junior team members on skills and knowledge development
- Work with venture leads and teams with respect to deal preparation and execution
Risk Management
- Ensure risk assessment, through due diligence, developing a comprehensive integration plan.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with fundraising, mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships.
- Draw on previous experience to ensure successful deal execution, minimising potential risks.
- Compliance: Ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, laws, and industry standards.
Governance
- Manage senior internal stakeholders and processes through deal life cycle.
- Preparation of documentation to be presented at Approvals Committees
Regulatory & Business Conduct
- Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.

Qualification
- 6-9 years professional experience in fundraising and M&A ideally at a bulge bracket bank, PE /Venture fund or similar.
- Robust financial and analytical skillset
- Prior demonstrable involvement in fundraising and M&A transactions
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience in complex deal structuring and negotiation
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively within a team.
- Confident in leading counterparty and investor calls
- Deal Structuring experience
- A driven self-starter with appositive outlook and can-do attitude to drive deals.
- Existing affinity to Fintech and Digital Assets sector gained through academic or professional experience would be beneficial.
- Strong PowerPoint and excel skills.
