Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a background in Corporate Finance, Legal, Risk, or Corporate Development to join our team.  The ideal candidate will possess a strong drive and the ability to work under minimal to moderate supervision.  They should have a keen attention to detail and excel in problem-solving, demonstrating emotional intelligence and a collaborative spirit.

Key Responsibilities

The role is responsible for:

1.    Second line oversight for SC Ventures’ (“SCV”) Investment and Corporate Action related activities
2.    Compile Risk review and preparation documentation in advance of key decision-making investment committees, and where appropriate working challenges through with First Line colleagues pre-meeting
3.    Leading and participating in the coordination and completion of team projects / initiatives as required


Strategy
1.    Support strategic risk assessments and direct First Line requirements in relation to SCV Investment and Corporate Actions
2.    Planning and delivering enhanced processes and controls to optimise SCV Risk’s operation 

Business
1.    Support First Line in proactive identification and management of risk, aligning with the wider strategic intent and collective agenda for SCV for the Investment and Corporate Action related activities, providing end-to-end risk challenge across such initiatives
2.    Provide review and challenge for initiatives presented to relevant SC Ventures oversight bodies including the Portfolio Management Committee, Digital Venture Investment Committee, Investment Committee, Investment Advisory Forum, and other nominated governance bodies
3.    Support First Line review and refresh of RCSA activities by providing effective risk-partnering services

Processes
1.    Support team processes led by SCV Risk (as delegated) including the effectiveness of the risk control environment for delegated Risk Types
2.    Continuously improve the operational efficiency and effectiveness of processes (as delegate) run by SCV Risk
3.    Facilitate effective management of risks and compliance with applicable internal policies, and external laws and regulations across SCV for delegated Risk Types
4.    Support review of reports / business risk reviews within SCV for delegated Risk Types

Risk Management
SC Ventures Risk Management
Oversight, review, challenge and advise on SCV Investment and Corporate Action related activities 

  • Identify material risks (aligned to delegated Risk Types) that SCV / Ventures may be potentially exposed to and direct relevant activities to manage and control these risks within Risk Appetite for delegated Risk Types
  • Validate that First Line and Second Line understand and accept their risk management responsibilities for delegated Risk Types
  • Monitor compliance to the SCV Risk Committee approved Risk Appetite for delegated Risk types
  • Support Second Line oversight, review, challenge and advice on Risk Appetite for delegated Risk Types
  • Liaise and align reviews of risk with other SCV Functions e.g., Financial Crime, where required

Governance

  • Maintain a good understanding of risk governance requirements of key external and internal stakeholders for delegated Risk Types and ensure that these are well understood


Regulatory & Business Conduct 

  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct
  • Actively support SCV Risk to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles: Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Financial Markets; Financial Crime Compliance; The Right Environment
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters

Ten to twenty years of experience in risk management with specialisation in Enterprise risk, Operational risk, Financial risks and Digital Assets risk management
