Job Summary

Global Markets Valuation Methodology team is the Subject Matter Expert with respect to the fair valuation of the Bank’s positions in Global Markets and ensuring the (stress) prudent regulatory requirements are met.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the team to ensure a sound practice in valuation review of the Group’s Markets products covering multiple asset classes.
  • Ensure justifiable fair valuation assessment in accordance with IFRS, Group financial accounting policy and management reporting principles.
  • Perform periodic valuation reviews for the portfolios covered. 
  • Prepare and review the metrics and commentary for publication of periodic valuation packs and participate in various valuation governance committees and forums.
  • Provide valuation support including advice on new product initiatives, deal pipeline and potential impact on valuations and respond to requests for ad-hoc analysis and reports. 
  • Collaborate with model owner to propose and implement model overlays.
  • Define and implement the methodologies used in valuation space. For example: Independent Price Verification, Bid Offer reserve, Prudent Valuation Adjustments...etc.
  • Perform the PVA Stress Testing (ICAAP or BoE) and prepare the model use test report.
  • Set up the DQM (Deterministic Quantitative Method) framework for Global Markets Valuation.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement valuation adjustment and price testing policies to ensure accurate valuation of financial instruments.
  • Continuously review and improve the valuation policies and methodologies to align with evolving regulatory and market requirements.
  • Provide independent price verification for front-office valuations to ensure accuracy and transparency.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to meet reporting deadlines and maintain compliance with accounting standards.
  • Align team goals with business outcomes, foster collaboration, and create an environment of accountability, trust, and excellence.

  • Ensure robust controls for fair value adjustments, price testing and prudent valuation adjustments, especially during period of stress or illiquidity.
  • Drive the evolution of the valuation ecosystem and reduce the operational risk.

 

Governance: 

  • Maintain functional independence from the front office, ensuring unbiased oversights of valuations.
  • Ensure proper escalation procedures for significant valuations issues and provide transparent reporting to senior management or valuation committees.
  • Be aware of and familiar with the evolving regulatory and internal governance frameworks relevant to valuation methodology team and the role.

Skills and Experience

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in valuation, front office, market risk or a related quantitative area within Global Markets environment.
  • Deep and comprehensive understanding of a wide range of Global Markets products (both vanilla and structured) and corresponding valuation techniques in Rates, FX/FXO, Commodities, Equities, Credit, XVA (CVA, DVA, FVA, MVA, KVA).
  • Strong technical expertise in valuation methodologies, pricing models and market data sources.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing high-performing teams across multiple locations.
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant accounting standards (IFRS) and regulatory requirements related to valuation (DQM, TWD).
  • Experience with valuation systems and tools (e.g. Bloomberg, Reuters, vendor platform, Python).
  • Experience in implementing and improving valuation control frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret complex information and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Exceptional communication (both written and verbal) and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Experience working in a global, matrixed organization.
  • Strong ethical standards and a commitment to independence and objectivity.
  • Results-oriented with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
