JOB SUMMARY

The Head of Market Risk Technology Change is responsible for leading and managing the technology transformation initiatives within the Market Risk function. This role involves overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of technology solutions that support market risk management activities, ensuring they align with the strategic goals of the organisation. The incumbent will work closely with stakeholders across various departments to identify technology needs, drive innovation, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, deep knowledge of market risk management, and a proven track record in managing complex technology projects.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Strategy:
•    Develop and implement a comprehensive technology strategy for the Market Risk function, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s overall strategic objectives.
•    Identify emerging technology trends and innovations that can enhance market risk management capabilities and drive competitive advantage.
•    Collaborate with senior leadership to define the strategic direction for market risk technology and ensure it supports business growth and regulatory compliance.

 

Business:
•    Partner with business leaders to understand their market risk management needs and translate them into effective technology solutions.
•    Ensure that technology initiatives support business objectives, enhance operational efficiency, and improve risk management processes.
•    Drive the adoption of new technologies and tools that improve the accuracy, speed, and reliability of market risk assessments.

Processes:
•    Oversee the design, development, and implementation of technology solutions that streamline market risk management processes.
•    Establish and maintain robust processes for technology change management, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
•    Continuously review and optimize technology processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service delivery.

 

People & Talent:
•    Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of technology professionals, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
•    Identify skill gaps and provide training and development opportunities to ensure the team remains current with the latest technology trends and best practices.
•    Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across the technology and market risk teams to drive synergies and enhance overall performance.

 

Risk Management:
•    Ensure that all technology solutions comply with regulatory requirements and internal risk management policies.
•    Implement robust risk management frameworks and controls to mitigate technology-related risks in the market risk function.
•    Monitor and assess the effectiveness of technology solutions in managing market risk and make necessary adjustments to address any identified gaps.

Governance:
•    Establish and enforce governance frameworks for technology projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
•    Ensure that all technology initiatives adhere to the organization’s governance policies, including data privacy, cybersecurity, and compliance.
•    Regularly report to senior leadership and relevant stakeholders on the progress, risks, and outcomes of technology projects within the Market Risk function.

 

Regulatory & Business Conduct

•    Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

 

Our Ideal Candidate

  • 10+ years experience in technology transformation initiatives, ideally in a financial services setup
  • Strong project management experience
  • Proficiency in market risk
  • Education: Degree in a relevant field (i.e. business management, accountancy)
