Job Summary
The mandate of this role is to:
• Lead the strategy, design, development and implementation of data management capabilities that enable CIB to unlock the value of data, strengthen data risk management, and deliver against CIB’s business objectives and data strategy.
• Partner with Group CDO, T&O and relevant teams / functions to customise centrally owned data enablers into the CIB context and drive the integration of these enablers / capabilities into CIB business, processes, system, operational and organisational landscape.
• Establish and embed robust governance frameworks to assess the ongoing effectiveness, relevance and maturity of existing data capabilities, and to identify opportunities for continuous enhancement, automation and simplification.
• Own and manage the CIB data capability demand pipeline, prioritising new capability requirements and enhancement opportunities in line with business value, risk reduction, regulatory expectations and strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy
• Define and execute the CIB data management capability strategy, ensuring alignment with CIB business priorities, Group data strategy and applicable data risk, regulatory and control requirements.
• Champion continuous innovation and a forward-looking data management culture across CIB by advancing scalable data capabilities
Business
• Partner with relevant teams to identify required data capabilities and shape target solutions that deliver intended business, data management and risk outcomes, engaging CIB CDO workstream leads where there is a data architecture or data risk nexus.
• Work with (Group) Chief Data Office (CDO), Technology & Operations (T&O), Conduct Financial Crime and Compliance Risk (CFCR), CIB and relevant teams / functions to remove blockers that may impede the rollout, adoption or effective use of data capabilities.
• Collaborate with CDO, T&O, CIB and other central teams to deliver and embed new or enhanced data capabilities across CIB.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior business stakeholders in CIB on data capabilities, enabling informed decisions in line with business needs, regulatory expectations and industry best practice.
Processes
• Lead the design and implementation of the approach / process to be followed across the CIB Data Governance & Management COE and where applicable, the wider CIB community, for the following activities:
• Discovery of the current state systems, processes, operational and organisational setup of CIB against the data (risk) requirements
• Root Cause Analysis and impact assessment from a people, process, and system perspective
• Remediation / Target solution design
• Capacity planning and estimation of funding / resourcing requirements
• Remediation execution / change delivery and implementation
• Data Capability design and solution shaping: Establish mechanism to identify CIB business needs and requirements in relation to data then design the target data capability
• Capability delivery and embedding across CIB: Engage and influence / negotiate with relevant stakeholders / teams to secure the required support, funding and resources to prioritise the design, implementation and adoption of data capabilities in line with committed timelines. This includes but is not limited to providing training and running awareness campaigns to drive adoption of the data capabilities by and across CIB.
• Advisory on data capability requirements: Provide advisory to CIB and relevant teams on data capability design, implementation and roll-out / adoption
• Capability governance and control: Establish governance mechanisms to oversee data capability design, delivery, adoption, effectiveness, risks and issues, ensuring appropriate engagement across 1 LOD, 2 LOD and 3 LOD where required.
• Maintain the CIB data capability demand backlog, including requests for new capabilities or enhancements to existing capabilities
• Transformation, digitisation and automation: Provide thought leadership and drive continuous simplification, digitisation and automation of data management capabilities across their lifecycle, from design and build to implementation, maintenance and retirement.
• Represent CIB in enterprise / CIB programmes and transformation initiatives to ensure CIB requirements are understood and accounted for prior to adoption / roll-out of any data capability impacting or involving CIB
• Collaborate with central teams and programmes to co-design and implement data capabilities for CIB together
People & Talent
• Build, Lead and Develop a high-performing team of professionals who are able to independently manage large scale, enterprise-wide, global transformation projects relating to design and roll out of data (risk) enablers and capabilities
• Promote and propagate the valued behaviours of the Bank
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and innovation
• Influence and mentor stakeholders across the bank to uplift data culture, literacy, and ownership
Risk Management
• Design and implement frameworks, controls and practices to support effective data capability / enablement management across the CIB Businesses in line with the applicable regulatory / client / legal requirements
• Drive the design, implementation and adoption of data capabilities that enable the business to manage data (risk) effectively and/or comply with data requirements / regulations efficiently.
Governance
• Establish a defined engagement model with all relevant stakeholders across business, technology, operations, CDO, compliance and audit (where applicable) ensuring all relevant stakeholders are informed and/or involved as required / appropriate. This includes but is not limited to chairing and/or participating in relevant forums / PgSCs.
• Define path to escalate data capability related risks & issues and obtain the required support to drive these to closure.

Our Ideal Candidate
- 10+ years of experience in Corporate & Investment Banking, preferably across jurisdictions / countries / markets

Has worked across two or more CIB business/product domains, such as Markets, Coverage, Transaction Banking, etc.
- Deep understanding of the end-to-end lifecycle of CIB business with direct exposure to key processes and/or applications relating to customer engagement, order placement / taking, transaction validation, transaction execution, post-processing, reporting and more.
- Driven or led large scale, enterprise, global transformation initiatives relating to the roll-out of technology capabilities and solutions
- Prior domain expertise in data (risk) management
- Experienced with preparing program reports / status updates to senior management
- Worked on projects / roles with differing ways of working ranging from Agile to SDLC & more.
