Job Description: 

Job Summary

Manage and deliver end-to-end Bonds & Guarantees (Gtees) trade product objectives globally, including financial and non-financial performance, enhancement of capabilities, product and client access future strategies, process efficiency & Digitisation initiatives and oversight of risk and governance.  

Key Responsibilities

 

Business
Financial Performance and profitability
•    Responsible for product P&L of Bonds & Guarantees folio of USD 55bn in exposures & 325Mil in revenues & associated growth targets.
•    Work together with TB Sales to achieve financial objectives, in line with the overall Bonds & Guarantees Plan
•    Monitor end to end product performance, improving product efficiency 
•    Support escalated deals including tailored/complex deal and cross border coordination etc.

Product Management and Development
•    Responsible for articulating the Bonds & Guarantees product strategy and executing product initiatives 
•    Ensure timely renewal of Bonds & Guarantees PPGs and proactively work with stakeholders to identify and quantify new and existing risks. 
•    Leading Digitisation of Bonds & Gtees as Product Owner/Squad lead for all enhancements to proprietary digital channels - S2BNG as well as 3rd party ones e.g. SWIFT4C and blockchain based initiatives
o    Own and lead Gtee Digitisation Roadmap working with DCS channels, SWIFT, Industry bodies etc
o    Work with Trade Digitization leads to ensure that the bank is at the forefront in leveraging emergent technologies to deliver on evolving Bank guarantee client needs and mitigating risk in our markets
o    Drive and own multi-product Trade Digitization initiatives looking at leveraging technology to deliver incremental efficiency and customer experience for Guarantee – (For example: SWIFT 4 Corporates, Gtee APIs etc)
o    Be fully conversant with developments in the external environment – competitive landscape, technology and fintechs – to spot opportunities which may help build new capabilities in the guarantees trade business
•    Lead and co-ordinate launch of Bonds & Guarantees product enhancements, new products variance, channels or new platforms as required. 

•    Work with operations to improve efficiency, re-engineer overall end2end process, improve overall service standards and to ensure that quality of service to customers remains superior to competition
•    Act as the domain expert and advisor for escalated deals/Bonds & Guarantees issues from all 40+ markets. Understand legal implications of Guarantee wordings and be able to take product risk decisions.
Commercialisation
•    Provide leadership to commercialize Bonds & Guarantees aspirations
•    Directly responsible for commercialization of new Bonds & Guarantees capabilities by ensuring commercialization plans, targets and infrastructure to maximize success for it launch
•    Provide business solution for complex deals or RFPs and sponsor them to conclusion
•    Be a critical advocate, internally and externally for the Bonds & Guarantees business with the commensurate presence, credibility and communication ability to manage internal and external stakeholders externally (including client education and commercial opportunities) and internally across functions.
•    Understand the needs of customers and prospects, and implement structures and solutions to meet these needs ensuring delivery of all SCB related capabilities.
•    Provide ongoing domain expertise and  training to TB sales, RM and Operations as required.
•    Provide assistance to facilitate the closure of large or complex deals.
•    Author thought leadership articles for this domain and also represent the bank on B&G Industry bodies such as SWIFT
•    Maintain & grow SWIFT MT760 Market share

Risk Management
•    Identify and mitigate the Operational, Credit, Regulatory and Business conduct risks relating to Bonds & Guarantees working with the front line and 2nd line risk owners.

Governance
•    Ensure portfolio adherence to Trade controls & governance including but not limited to adherence to product governance /construct, approvals for deviations etc.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor’s or master’s Degree
  • 15+ Years Experience in Trade Product/Sales/Guarantees Management with exposure to Clients and Industry Bodies.
      • Of which 5-7 years’ experience in Documentary Trade.
  • Understanding of the latest in this space with ICC, APIS/Digitisation
  • Membership of Industry Bodies such as ICC, BAFT etc Preferred but Not Mandatory
  • CDCS, ICC /BAFT Certifications Welcome but Not Mandatory
  • Strong Leadership & communication skills
  • People Management skills will be an advantage

 

 

Role Specific Technical Competencies

  • Solid domain understanding & thought leader in the Trade & financial Bonds & Guarantees space
  • Strong domain understanding of international Documentary trade rules e.g. ICC – UCP600, ISP98, URDG etc
  • Good understanding of Basel Capital rules and its implications for Trade products especially L/Cs/SBLCs & Guarantees.
  • Ability to navigate organisational complexity as well as provide product/domain advisory on complex guarantee structures
