Head of Data Products and Platforms is the product owner of SCB’s Core Data Lake and the the data products framework and governance implemented within the Domain Data Stores part of the Data Lake. The role holds dual accountability: defining and driving the product vision and roadmap for the data lake and ensuring data products are delivered by the domains as per the Data Product Frameworks .This role will also be the custodian of the Data Product Catalog within the Bank

 

Vision and Strategy 
•    Define the Product Vision: Establish a clear vision for the Data Lake ( Global Data Platform or GDP) as a centralized, trusted, and scalable source of enterprise data that enables analytics, AI, and business intelligence.
•    Set the Strategy: Align GDP evolution with overarching business goals and individual data strategies of Businesses and Functions in partnership with Data Architecture
•    Draw the Roadmap: Develop and maintain a prioritized backlog of capabilities, features, and foundational improvements together with the GDP Platform Owner. Balance new ingestions with platform maturity and user experience enhancements.
•    Be the Primary Business Liaison: Interface with Consumers through an agreement engagement /interaction model . Gather requirements , communicate value and manage expectations.
•    Champion Data Democratization: Advocate for and facilitate secure, governed access to data for approved users, breaking down data silos.
•    Design Data Governance implementation approach for GDP.
•    Build Data Products Framework – Minimum requirements a data product definition must meet before its enters into a delivery backlog, operating model  and implementation approach
•    Discover existing data and data products and align them to approved data product framework.

Key Responsibilities

•    Ensure Data Products are created as per the Data Product Standards and Frameworks and
•    Review Logical Data Model for Data Products to ensure alignment with overall Data Subject Areas.
•    Orchestrate Data Product Delivery in GDP working with various CDO’s and Data Domain Owners.
•    Maintain a published Data Product Catalog ( Data Marketplace) giving the organization visibility of what data products exist , what is in delivery , what is planned and what’s in decommissioned state.

 

Data Products Standards Ownership and Enforcement 
•    Operate the Standards Compliance Gate, enforcing requirements across data quality , metadata , lineage, access control, privacy and data owner acceptance before a data product is published onto data market place.
•    Evolve the standards framework as the platform matures, regulatory requirements change and consumption patterns develop, balancing rigour with delivery practicality.
•    Maintain the standards compliance register – tracking compliance status across all products in flight and published.
•    Feed Recurring Standards Failure back into Data by Design Programme .

 

Delivery 
•    Act as the CDO organizations primary product owner for data owners from a Data Lake and Data Products perspective , working with them to refine requirements and prioritize them for delivery.
•    Translate stakeholder requirements into product specifications that engineering squads can build to and data owners can accept against.
•    Manage Handoffs between delivery stages , from requirements to design to build to QA with clear ownerships and SLAs at each transition
•    Signoff the Requirements before go live 
•    Drive Data Owner Accountability for their obligations

•    Lead the CDO team to deliver on the Bank’s Conduct Principles: Fair Outcomes for Clients, Effective Financial Markets, Financial Crime Compliance, and the Right Environment.
•    Identify, escalate, mitigate, and resolve risk, conduct, and compliance issues promptly and collaboratively.

Our Ideal Candidate

 

  • Relevant Academic and professional qualifications
  • 15+ years of experience in Data Products and platforms 
  • Ability to Manage stakeholder engagement across technology, data, and business teams
  • Define and govern product frameworks, operating models, roadmap, vision, and strategy for data platforms and data products.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
