Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Linux Administrator with hands-on expertise to manage, secure, and optimize our Financial Markets Linux infrastructure. You will be responsible for maintaining the stability, performance, and security of Linux-based systems, supporting critical applications, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless IT operations. This role requires deep knowledge of Linux ecosystems, system administration best practices, and enterprise-level infrastructure management.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and maintain Linux-based systems (Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu, CentOS, etc.) across physical, virtual, and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Perform system installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and security policies.
• Monitor system performance, resource utilization (CPU, memory, disk, network), and troubleshoot hardware/software issues to minimize downtime.
• Implement and maintain high availability solutions, including clustering (Pacemaker, Corosync), load balancing (HAProxy, Nginx), and disaster recovery strategies.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls (RBAC, SELinux, AppArmor) to enforce security best practices and regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001).
• Configure and maintain network services: DNS, DHCP, NTP, SSH, firewalls (iptables, firewalld), and VPNs to ensure secure and reliable connectivity.
• Automate routine tasks and infrastructure provisioning using tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef, and collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate with CI/CD pipelines.
• Manage storage systems, including local disks, LVM, RAID, and network-attached storage (NAS) or storage area networks (SAN), ensuring data integrity and efficient utilization.
• Document system architectures, procedures, and troubleshooting guides, and provide technical support to internal teams and end-users.
• Stay updated with Linux community trends, new tools, and security vulnerabilities, and propose improvements to enhance infrastructure efficiency and resilience.

Our Ideal Candidate
- We are seeking a seasoned Linux infrastructure specialist with 10+ years of hands-on experience in managing, securing, and optimizing Financial Markets environments.
The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator with fluent business communications, enabling seamless collaboration with global teams. - They will possess deep expertise in enterprise Linux distributions (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS), and be able to demonstrate an expert level understanding of algorithmic trading, able to work in partnership with Algorithmic Trading and Automated Risk Management Quants.
- They must have expert level proficiency in high availability clustering technologies, network configuration, and comprehensive security practices including vulnerability management and encryption protocols.
- Our perfect fit will be automation-focused, with strong scripting abilities and experience in configuration management tools, while also bringing cloud platform knowledge and modern monitoring solutions expertise.
- This individual will hold relevant industry certifications (RHCSA, RHCE, or LPIC-2)
- Possess a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field, combining academic foundation with practical, real-world experience in mission-critical financial infrastructure environments.
Role Specific Technical Competencies
- The successful candidate will possess specialized low-level Linux system optimization expertise, including BIOS configuration, network tuning, and system profiling capabilities.
- This role requires deep technical knowledge in interrupt handling, kernel bypass configuration for ultra-low latency applications, and performance testing methodologies.
- The position demands proficiency in advanced Linux tuning techniques that directly impact system performance, particularly in high-frequency trading or real-time processing environments where microsecond-level latency optimization is critical.
- Experience with specialized performance optimization that extends beyond standard UNIX administration is essential, as these skills are rare and highly valued within enterprise infrastructure teams.
